1396  Journey by Journey / Bristol (WECA) Commuters / Re: Bristol connections: Metro, Bus Rapid Transit, PTE, ITA and local councils - discussion on: November 04, 2011, 21:28:51
Come on Mark Hopwood, Dave Redgewell Julie Boston et al ....tell us what was decided at the meeting. From the Points West report it didnt seem that any politicians local or national were on that train. If ever there was a lack of political will about getting the Portishead line re-opened, their absence surely proved it ! Couldn't Liam Fox,now that he has less onerous duties to perform, makes representations to  the new SoSJustine Greening. After all it was his resignation that caused the musical chairs that led to her getting her new job in the first place !
1397  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: Bridgwater Carnival 04/11/2011 on: November 04, 2011, 19:57:22
Enough to make you squawk with irritation at the lack of local knowledge shown by supposedly local BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) journalists.

Anyone know what conclusions were reached and priorities prioritised  at the rail conference in Bristol today?

Tormented Theresa left on the trackside again....

Villiers the guarded van must feel she is on a one way journey to Werrity wagonworks ...soon to be closed.

First she is shunted into a siding as High Speed Hammond sweeps past on to higher things. When she hears that he has reached his destination well ahead of schedule she sees the points change and hope once more she will get the chance to queen it over the main line.

But wait ! Who's this ? It's only Justine the Calculator engine fresh from Cameron Central in her new all over light blue livery with no libdem yellow lining, counting the rods poles and perches on the mainline.
Will she refuse to be coupled to the main engine ?
Surely all the signals indicate that Villiers is careering out of control  and is soon going to hit the buffers.....

Does anyone else suffer from an irrational desire, rapidly turning into burning hatred of those ''Mickey Mouse ear' handgrips ? Every time I see them I want to do a supermarket sweep of the whole carriage. grabbing them all and dumping them out of the window at the end.....
1401  Journey by Journey / Swindon to Gloucester / Cheltenham / Re: Gloucester Station - facilities, incidents and developments (ongoing discussion) on: April 11, 2011, 09:28:27
I am tempted to say he got off 'lightly' , wouldn't you ?
1402  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Advice please on: March 23, 2011, 17:50:16
Am thinking of doing a BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI)) or BPW» (Bristol Parkway - next trains) circular via Oxford and Worcester tomorrow using a railcard. And as cheaply as possible. !

Cannot find any rangers covering the  whole length of the Cotswold line, they all seem to stop at Much Binding... sorry that dates me ....Moreton in the Marsh!

Are the return trains from Worcs Forget Street or Shurb HIll  to Briz hourly or 2 hourly ?

Thanks for any help and advice you can offer

1403  Journey by Journey / Swindon to Gloucester / Cheltenham / Re: Swindon to Kemble re-doubling - ongoing discussion and updates on: March 23, 2011, 16:03:53
No we didn't see it coming ,did we ?
All praise to the Cotswold group of past and present MP (Member of Parliament)'s who made this issue a real pain in the proverbial for both governments and who seemed to manage to mention Swindon or Kemble in the Commons every day for months!

Persistance pays off !

Could we but wish Dr Liam Fox could follow their example and leave his defence portfolio behind for a couple of minutes each day, to mention the Portishead rail link occasionally. His last meaningful contribution on this issue was an adjournment debate in 2007 at just short of midnight with just 3 MPs in the chamber....

Perhaps this is something those 2 bright up and coming Conservative MP's Charlotte(Leslie) and Chris ( Skidmore) could take up, to get themselves noticed, as it would surely benefit the whole of the Greater Bristol traffic clogged area.

1405  All across the Great Western territory / Media about railways, and other means of transport / Re: Great British Railway Journeys - Michael Portillo's television series on: January 03, 2011, 22:26:13
The combination of the pink striped shirt and the green jacket reminded me of a raspberry ripple and pistachio ice cream ! Was waiting for a 'crack' about the Brighton nudist beach when quoting from Bradshaw Roll Eyes
