Completed and declared that I hold a PTS (Personal Track Safety) (Personal Track Safety) Certificate from my heritage railway on which I volunteer and work trackside, as this will have influenced my answers.
I am a great respecter of crossings. Training includes the poor human perception of train approach speeds and an overestimation as to the amount of noise they make on approach.

Many years ago when working in Northern Ontario, Summer Beaver always struck me as an inviting locale. Always had to settle for more mundane destinations, unfortunately.

I think the location is here.

The farm is to the south of the railway and the train was travelling east.  Road layout appears to match the oblique aerial photograph.

... I was one of the many who visited the Bluebell because it has become so much more easily reached without a car.  Taunton next?

Princes Risborough hopefully.

I was working on the connection from Chinnor today. Rails, gate, signals and signs now in place.  Just waiting for some more paperwork ...

Personally, I am pro-duck.  I thought the original idea a good one and that those who commissioned the statue should hold sway in the matter.
970  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Triangular train tickets (A-B, B-C, C-A) on: February 16, 2016, 13:26:34
A quick look at the geography and the routeing guide and I can see all that is needed is a ticket from Leatherhead to Hove. ^8.85 for the Off Peak Day Return (not via Clapham J) with your Gold Card.

I thought that with an off-peak ticket, one can break the journey on the return leg but not the outward leg - or is that just the period, rather than day return?  With anytime tickets, one can break the journey anywhere en route - outward or return.

Apparently it's real.  In Australia I believe and NSW, SA or VIC by the look of the gauge - can't quite tell

I have used the photograph in safety briefings.

Thus the road to Hell is paved ...
974  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Great Western Railway: on-board catering, buffets, Travelling Chef, Pullman - ongoing discussion on: January 25, 2016, 20:59:32
How does the seating for two work on the Pullman?  Is it still a pair of seats facing each other over a single table, or must couples sit at a table for four like they would in the new layout of First Class with the single seat airline style arrangement?
975  Journey by Journey / London to Didcot, Oxford and Banbury / Re: Late running stoppers on: January 20, 2016, 12:51:35
There is still room for the long lifted Up Goods Loop between Didcot East Jnc and Moreton Cutting.  The current batch of electrification masts do not foul the old formation. On a permissive block at 1 mi 9 ch, you should be able to stack two or three freights in there awaiting a path. The Up Goods Loop used to extend around Didcot East Curve as well.
