GWR (Great Western Railway) told police that Hitachi owned the rights to the CCTV (Closed Circuit Tele Vision) and GWR could not access it.

Interesting fact, and if correct, could affect any future legal cases.

Journey Check has 1A81 7.41 exPNZ as 5 coaches vice 8, so presumably IET (Intercity Express Train).

There's an ECS (Empty Coaching Stock) 5C84 at 1050 from Bristol to Paddington, which looks like a replacement HST (High Speed Train) and form 1C84 1403 to Penzance.

Think that might be the first time the sleeper has been replaced by an IET (Intercity Express Train) rather than an HST (High Speed Train). Not that will much comfort for those involved.

Will be interesting to see how passengers cope with the rock-hard seats!

56  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: My final ride on a full length HST? on: May 12, 2019, 16:22:03
Much to my surprise their was an HST (High Speed Train) on the 1133 Paddington to Carmarthan  today.  When I saw it at Paddington I was hoping that it was booked for the 1130 Paignton - hopes dashed.

It's then due to work:
1L90 1655 Carmarthen to Paddington
1C33 2206 Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads
57  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: IETs into passenger service from 16 Oct 2017 and subsequent performance issues on: May 11, 2019, 12:50:49
I think the ride quality on the IET (Intercity Express Train) is pretty awful compared to the HST (High Speed Train), and I don't see how that can be improved - although more seat padding may help. The IET may be a bit quicker from A to B, but in terms of comfort I consider them to be a huge backward step from what we had with the HST.
58  Journey by Journey / London to Kennet Valley / Re: Newbury stoppage last weekend - early May 2019 bank holiday on: May 07, 2019, 20:24:50
Think only 172 and 185 came through on Sunday; other West of England trains with HSTs (High Speed Train) ran via Bristol Temple Meads.

I took advantage of the diversions on Sunday to catch a HST from Swindon to Taunton non-stop via Bristol Temple Meads (returning by IET (Intercity Express Train) via Westbury). Then on Monday took an HST from Swindon to Plymouth. The return was HST as far as Exeter, then I changed to a following XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) HST to Bristol Parkway, with IET back to Swindon. Get them while you can!  Wink
