31  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Infrastructure problems in Thames Valley causing disruption elsewhere - ongoing, since Oct 2014 on: May 16, 2018, 07:03:36
This morning the station dispatcher at maidenhead decided to encourage us all into the stopper at 6.59 from Furze Platt. Bit disappointed on checking the app to discover this won’t get in to Paddington until 7.45am but even the delayed 7.06am is due in by 7.35am.

The 18.59 driver this evening was particularly witty in his announcement outside Acton, inviting any passengers with an engineering or operations background to submit a CV to ‘runtherailwayproperly.com’! When staff morale is that low it says a lot! On the other hand, the humour makes the inevitable delay a smidge better...
33  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Crossrail Overrun By £500M on: May 14, 2018, 19:38:04
£500m is the expected overrun which is 3pc. £500k would be 0.003pc as you say.  Wink

A huge thanks for the hours of effort it takes to bring this all back online again! As a long time lurker I’m amazed at the dedication it takes to get a forum like this back up and running. The loss of a weekend of posts doesn’t reflect the minor miricle you’ve managed to perform in recovering everything else from before then!
35  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: March void days on: March 13, 2018, 20:25:00
Interesting - the bean counters in GWR (Great Western Railway) towers have obviously decided it was better not to void 2nd March for LTV (London [and] Thames Valley) for a strategic reason - be interesting to see the performance stats as a result.
36  All across the Great Western territory / Smoke and Mirrors / Re: Compensation Delays on: March 03, 2018, 15:35:44
Will they get declared though - given the snow was 'inclement weather', and nothing to do with the railway, im certainly not expecting them to be generous and void it?
37  Journey by Journey / London to Reading / Re: Class 387 coming to Thames Valley - ongoing discussion on: February 05, 2018, 21:03:44
Complete shambles this evening. Missed the 19.48 by 1 min. Trying to get to maidenhead. I had two chances to ride a Slough service but the useless gang have pretended to run, then cancelled 2x ..18/48 services and all the stoppers in between. Finally rolling at 21.01!!! Still, hearing the support desk staff publically swearing about the quality of the service from 'the management' shows how everyone's morale has collapsed...
38  Journey by Journey / London to Reading / Re: Class 387 coming to Thames Valley - ongoing discussion on: January 04, 2018, 18:16:44
One of the 'Ribena' gang (not sure the correct term for Paddington station staff) was stood on 17.49 to direct passengers to front 8 today. Stuck standing in carriage 7 of 12amd train arrived 5mins late into maidenhead

What a lovely letter from Mr Hopwood. Any chance of one for the broken down train on the Marlow branch line on Tuesday too? I can't figure it out but couldn't help but feel had the 18.43 to Bourne End from Maidenhead been on time it would have been very tight given the 18.19 from Paddington only arrived at 18.39 officially. I'm sure in one of the old timetables the branch line was a much 'safer' connection at 18.45 or even 18.50?
40  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: GWR Performance Figures on: December 14, 2017, 19:09:59
The triggers are on the 12 month moving average I believe. So wales gets a 5pc discount for reliability. LTV (London [and] Thames Valley) is significantly above trigger at 98.5pc. Also can't work out whether it's better to take 2 extra days on the next ticket or just take the cash...

At the rate this is going in the next 3-4 years I will end up paying the higher season ticket price...
41  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: IETs into passenger service from 16 Oct 2017 and subsequent performance issues on: October 16, 2017, 08:03:54
Rumour has it the PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) arrival has had technical difficulties and won't arrive! RTT» (Real Time Trains - website) showing it hasn't cleared Slough yet but not sure if this an error.

Finally arrived nearly 40min late...
42  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Shortage of train crews on Great Western Railway since September 2017 - ongoing discussion on: September 21, 2017, 20:30:32
An oddity as a result of this - currently sitting on a class 165  of the delayed 20:13 between Paddington and Ealing Broadway and have the entire train to myself. They were only boarding the front carriages until merging the trains. I then  snuck back to the back three coaches all to myself...
43  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Infrastructure problems in Thames Valley causing disruption elsewhere - ongoing, since Oct 2014 on: July 13, 2017, 19:04:26
If I were a cynic I'd say that time period would be just about long enough for GWR (Great Western Railway) to get a data analyst to figure out whether it's better to pay out either:

A) 2 void days or
B)  the (possible) 5% discount for missing reliability too on season ticket refunds in the next twelve months.

Due to the disruption this morning an High Speed Train (HST (High Speed Train)) (delayed 7.08) pulled into platform 5 at Maidenhead this morning (the first I know of)! A little bit of railway history!
