Coastguard rescue cyclist who fell off sea wall in Dorset

Was he trying to cycle along the top of the wall in the picture? It has a round top?
Hope he is physically ok.

Pity about lockdown, I would have been down there immediately to verify the truth of the situation.

I would imagine there are going to be some unhappy motorists in Bristol

If they want to get the American aircraft carriers in, or the Queen Elizabeth (leaks permitting) keep an eye out for the Royal Navy Hydrographic Service checking that nobody is going to scrape their keel.

A report by KPMG was mentioned on the Today programme this morning. The report can be found at:
https://assets.kpmg/content/dam/kpmg/uk/pdf/2021/01/the-future-of-towns-and-cities-post-covid-19-how-will-covid-19-transform-england-s-town-and-city-centres.pdf
Have only scanned. Not sure I understand the cultural offering, I presume Oxford gets negative rating for Sports facilities because they are all for the University.
Places headlined in the Today report, Bracknell and Basingstoke do stand out. Obviously will have some implications for public transport in general.

Taking the Original GWR (Great Western Railway) area, the North Wales seaside photos might be of interest

Reminds me of my childhood. My mother (the Welsh side of the family) always used to say it was "raining pouring", which is what it inevitably appeared to be doing when we were on holiday.

I think the last photo is particularly relevant at the current time.

Apologies for any confusion (to myself and others). I sometimes am not clear on the demarcation between electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters. On reflection, I probably think it is an electric wheelchair if it has joystick control and a mobility scooter if it is steered by something akin to handlebars (or in some parts of Reading can be ridden down the road by two kids). There are mobility scooters that appear to be small enough to be folded down and put in the boot of a car, which I have seen on buses. There are some electric wheelchairs that are bigger then mobility scooters.

The main issue was that it is a machine with a large battery that can get on a bus.

On buses in the Reading area you just drive them on.

This is the same organisation responsible for the Queensbury Tunnel.

Noticed the two structures at Horspath on the Cowley branch, beyond Unipart works so possibly not of concern to re-opening.

It seems regrettable (or fortunate in HRE's case) that there doesn't appear to be any statutory consultation process with statutory consultees as with other similar processes.

Probably not acceptable to Network Rail:

From another article it appears the Army's interest is that this is the railway that brings tanks into Catterick Garrison.
What I was looking for was the fabulous picture of an RE (Religious Education) track laying machine on the Longmoor Military Railway, not to modern H&S (Health and Safety) standards but a typical Army pragmatic solution.

I'll let others decide on the validity of the title but I found this quote interesting:
Quote
It is fashionable to compare COVID-19 to a war. But recently, when I was flying back to Sofia via Vienna, I realized that, paradoxically, the pandemic is just the opposite of a war. During a war, the most crowded places are railway stations and airports because people are on the move all the time, traveling in different directions, because they're trying to escape something. And, during the pandemic, these places are the loneliest places in the world.
