You ever had a knife pulled on you?
Do you do a job which you (have to) expect to be abused, threatened, both physically and verbally?
Do you learn not to rely on BTP at ANY time, because they just don't turn up.
Were you even there when I had the knife pulled on me, do you do how I felt?

SDS out.

Word the FoI in the right way and im sure you could get the figures, but as said you need to word it in such a way so they cant claim any exemption or "we dont hold the information" rubbish.
4  Journey by Journey / London to Didcot and Oxford / Re: Oxford BTP office reopens on: January 25, 2011, 09:09:11 PM
Done that already.
The PCSOs received "words of advice" via the Local Resolution Process.

They're still looking for my knife puller.
5  Journey by Journey / London to Didcot and Oxford / Re: Oxford BTP office reopens on: January 25, 2011, 07:18:18 PM
RTS,
BTP still haven't caught the person that pulled a knife on me, despite them being 5 mins away.
PCSOs no longer have the power to report, according to the one that I spoke to a couple of weeks ago, and most of them are less than effective at enforcing bye-laws. You have to tell them what bye-laws you want them kicked out of the station for.

I also once had 2 PCSOs standing right next to me, when a person pushed past me while I was dispatching and grab hold of a door handle while the train was starting to move. What do you think the PCSOs did? Nothing. But it gets better, when I shouted at the person to move away and the door was 'made safe' the person turned to me told me that "I had f**king let that train leave early, and I was a f**king wa**er".
Did the PCSOs do anything? Nope. Despite me asking for him to be detained for S5 PoA. The PCSOs did nothing said nothing and then hung around for the person to leave the platform and then vanished.

Now you wonder why I have such faith in BTP?

Boarding controls are in operation during such events. I don't even think reservations will let you bypass the queue. No ticket will Defo put you out the queue.

Well I did reply, but it seems that someone has deleted my response.

Policy is not to hold trains unless as stated is the last connection of the night. Also "The Railway does not offer guaranteed connections".

Also you need to have allowed for the minimum advertised connection time which is 5 mins unless otherwise stated.
Reading is 7 mins.

6 Officers hmm, allowing for time off, sickness, sleep, etc. That will leave around 1 or 2 on duty. Yeah thats going to make a whole load of difference isn't it!
Prob find out that 4 of them are the waste of space PCSO types.

I must admit I also like Hull Paragon. The station concourse is kinda different though.

Swansea urgghh. Very dingy only ever been once, never again. The Centre just looked like a massive bus lane with bendy buses on it.
11  Journey by Journey / Reading to Basingstoke / Re: Keeping Commuters happy! on: January 24, 2011, 02:19:37 PM
Exactly what I think as well.

Sorry sir but this person who has paid £200 for their SOR ticket has more of a right to a seat then you whos paid an average of £70 for the same ticket. Yeah you may have paid £5000 but pro rata youve paid next to nothing.

That's what happens when you enter through a door when the doors are closing and the door closing alarm going off.

Had one yesterday while I was dispatching. Idiot put his foot in the door, and waited. He eventually got the hint and removed said foot (intact). Train then developed a fault and the driver couldnt get interlock despite open and closing the doors twice.
Someone then re-setted a few buttons and the train left 6 late.
All because of some inconsiderate moron.

I spoke to him afterwards as he wanted to know his next train. I just said why you'd do it, "oh I thought it was like the underground and the doors would re-open".
15  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Another HST looks set to be 'Turbotised' from December on: January 22, 2011, 03:21:12 AM
The plug sockets which are in the vestibules or on the turbos are not to be used by the public.
a) they do not have additional surge protection
b) they often do have very variable voltage.
c) are mainly for use for cleaners while stationary.

I have seen someone plug a laptop into a "not for public use" on a class 365, after a neutral section their laptop switched off, and the battery pack made quite a nice fizzing sound. It wouldn't turn on afterwards. The plug socket also had fused.
