1248  All across the Great Western territory / Diary - what's happening when? / IET naming event Thursday 18 April 2019 on: April 18, 2019, 09:04:12
A new intercity express train is to be named after a Bristol fundraiser who fought to raise awareness of melanoma.

Kathryn Osmond, who died last year, had worked as a paramedic for the South Western Ambulance Service, for 16 years.

The train naming will take place in front of members of Ms Osmond's immediate family, friends and former colleagues at Bristol Temple Meads later today, and the name is to be unveiled by Kathryn’s partner Sara.

The 41 year old studied emergency care at the University of the West of England in Bristol and worked in Bristol and Weston-super-Mare.

1256  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture in the United Kingdom / Liverpool lime street bound travellers on: January 30, 2019, 06:34:36
If you are heading to the Liverpool area the Mersey rail network is suffering this Wednesday morning.
I think its more to do with the snow on the electrified line.Similar to the London Underground.
Services not expected to start till at least 11:00am
Liverpool football are at Home to Leicester on Wednesday night
1257  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Swansea to Bristol Parkway very busy saturday 2nd February? on: January 19, 2019, 07:42:17
Just a heads up for anyone who may be using the Swansea to Bristol Parkway services on Saturday 2nd February.

Swansea football fans will be making the trip to Ashton Gate on the above date.

This will be Swansea's first trip to Bristol for seven years.

Swansea have sold out of their entire ticket allocation of 3,600.

Expect the XX:29 services from Swansea in the morning period to be very busy
1258  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture in the United Kingdom / keeping passengers away from replacement bus's,do they try hard enough? on: December 24, 2018, 07:04:21
Looking at the East Anglia region from an "expert" on BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) News.
Passengers from Norwich and Ipswich be informed there will be replacement bus service's to London
I would have thought a better option would be to travel via Ely/Cambridge to London
Just two trains,
might be a bit longer but it would keep passengers off the buses.
Thoughts anyone?
1259  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Web site with corect train fares on: October 24, 2018, 09:50:08
I know that there are various sites showing fares for rail journies.

I find it very difficult to get my head round those sites.

Is their a site that gives fares like at mainline railway stations ticket machines?

So if you walked up to the machines at Reading,

it would give you all the options to buy tickets from Reading.

Thanks in advance.
1260  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Parson street railway station passenger numbers on: October 24, 2018, 09:44:55
Wikipedia says Parson Street usage is 114,000 in year ending 2015.

ABC Railway guide says entry/exit is 22,985 in year 2015.

Could anyone clarify?

Thanks in advance.
