Sorry - that was Imber on Salisbury Plain ... I think the original answer has got lost in a flurry of other pictures!

Ahh, thought it was like this

I hadn't seen that before ... very interesting!   Thank you.

The tracks in the picture were actually part of a testing area that was set up to test the "bouncing bomb"
A bit more information here https://www.britainexpress.com/attractions.htm?attraction=1946

1......... but the employees of Hargreaves Lansdown who are by far the majority employer on Harbourside during the week !.

2....Furthermore the section of route most likely to be used by employees of HL is the Long Ashton P&R (Park and Ride) to Bristol City centre.

1....But surely these staff are all coming from different points of a compass so how would a designated pick up be of any use?

2... Why would the staff be using the P&R

The onus is definitely on SL  to come up with a solution, not the employees. It is not as if, they have not been able to see it coming. So to quote your own words in your earlier post, why don't they FWGOWI ?

Why is it up to the majority shareholder to provide transport for his staff?
Is this actually done anywhere else?

Apart from the few hours on a match day there are not that many staff based at Ashton Gate

As for not seeing it coming, am I not correct in saying that one of the routes that was sold as being in this area mysteriously vanished at a very recent press release

An explanation by an insider on the WNXX (Stored Unserviceable, Mainline Locos HQ All Classes) Forum (23/08/2018):

With reference to the lack of units this week, Hitachi are doing software modifications to the fleet. Due to the way they are done they can't be done at the same time which means booking each unit in twice - one of the modifications can take up to an hour per vehicle, so getting them back in service for the following day has proven a challenge.

Hitachi have aim to have all units done by this Monday.

I assume by one hour per vehicle they literally mean per coach?

Interestingly someone I know that works for Hitachi claims this to be BS, do you have the original URL please?
He is always VERY defensive on this issue

Here's a piece of clickbait that ticks all the boxes for some forum members!

Looks like they've had the decorators in:

GRAFFITI REMOVAL ‘NOT A PRIORITY’ FOR METROBUS

Less than a fortnight before Bristol’s second MetroBus route is due to open, a new multimillion-pound bridge is already strewn with graffiti.

The tags are both on the ground level and high up on the crash barriers of the new skew bridge near Ashton Gate, which buses on the m2 service will use to avoid Winterstoke Road and the Cumberland Basin.

But despite the proliferation of tags, a MetroBus spokesman told Bristol24/7 that regular removal of graffiti on the route’s new infrastructure “is not something the council, or MetroBus project, has budgeted for as a priority”.

The easy answer would have been whilst the recent upfest was on in that area they let people put some proper artwork onto it and then it is not so bad
338  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Raildar not showing Cotswold line services on: August 22, 2018, 16:22:12
Hi,

Has anyone any idea why the live map from Raildar (http://raildar.co.uk/radar.html) fails to show any Cotswold line services (or any services just north of Didcot)?

Just asking.

Never seen this site before, all looks a bit random

The live planner just has small graphics moving randomly across a UK (United Kingdom) map, really needs to show train lines within this

As for the live planner, for some reason nothing in / around Temple Meads shows in real time, it vanishes when it gets near

To be honest you're much better using another site until this is looked at
339  Journey by Journey / Bristol (WECA) Commuters / Re: What the Dickens? on: August 20, 2018, 11:57:43
I am currently on the Severn Beach branch line for the first time. What are the great antennae-looking things as you look North between Redland and Montpellier?

340  Journey by Journey / Heart of Wessex / Re: 0553 Weymouth to Bristol Parkway on: August 17, 2018, 10:35:59
This morning’s 05:53 is running as a one coach train rather than three.

It won’t be calling at Oldfield Park or Keynsham.

As I arrived at Temple Meads I heard an apology announcement about a service going to Westbury (about 0900) only being one carraige - not good during school holidays
341  Journey by Journey / Transport for London / Re: Crossrail/Elizabeth Line. From construction to operation - ongoing discussion on: August 17, 2018, 10:29:18
I travelled parallel to one just yesterday leaving Paddington and was struck with exactly the same observation.  I have never seen a carriage with so much fresh air underneath.  There looks room for a couple of diesel engines under each one!

Spooky you say that I was travelling out of Paddington on Wednesday and thought how they looked just like a model train, wheels and nothing else underneath, looked very noticeable

Out of interest how does someone go about chartering one of these trains for personal use?
343  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: 1C04 on: August 16, 2018, 10:19:26
I can confirm the possibility of an IET (Intercity Express Train) on this service as my ticket reservation was for coach J which, of course, does not exist on HST (High Speed Train) services.

As someone who has travelled up from Weston to Paddington recently with coach J reservations, I wouldn't get too excited just yet.
HST's both times for me

Thank you all for your time and efforts

5 cars for the 1700 to Bristol! Glad I'm only going Reading to Didcot.

Glad I managed to get the 1630, nice 9 coach service.
But blimey those seats are uncomfortable by the time I got back to Weston
