Fond memories from that time of the restaurant car service. I can still remember gammon and pineapple for  lunch going up  the incline to Honiton en route to Salisbury!

I must say I cant understand how this is being promoted as "the biggest investment in track renewals in Cornwall since the 1950's". The mainline has of course had Continuously Welded Rail (CWR^▸ (Continuously Welded Rail)) , and more recently there has been the re-doubliing of the track between St Austell and Truro. Does anyone know the basis of the investment claim?Or is it a misquote just relating to investment in the St Ives branch??

In the case of Bugle I suspect the crime is more general ASBO type behaviour, nothing really to do with the station other than its location  on the edge of the village. Truro has had a quite large homeless problem and I suspect the crimes there are more likely to be  in the evening after the ticket barriers get left opened when staff have gone.

For a destination I would say St Ives is hard to beat from the selection offered. In addition St Erth to St Ives is in my opinion the finest train journey in England.

Sadly the Liskeard and Caradon Railway is missing   ( Liskeard-Moorswater- St Cleer- Tokenbury- Minions-Cheeswring Quarry)

Another bit of legal pedantry....
" Should" means it's guidance and advisable , not bound by law."Must" is used where the Public Health England  Cornovirus Regualtions (2020) specifically forbid it with legal sanction.

A further interesting point from the Essex Police and Crime Commissioner re Tier 4. "It is not illegal to travel. It is illegal to leave your house other than for the 39 specific reasons to do so." Police can check your reason for being out but they cannot prevent you from travel !

And if the tube closes how to key workers get to their places of work?

Still not clear how much of this is legal prohibition as opposed to  "guidance". The new Health Regualtions ( i.e law) have not ( Sunday ) yet been published.

Not knowing what DoT means by "shovel ready", but having experience in other sectors, I think "shovel ready" means " Start April". In that case I would have thought this would only include recently cancelled plans otherwise well advanced, such as Chippenham- Bristol TM^‡(resolve), Didcot-Oxford and the Midland Mainline. I I would guess that anything else  would be unlikely to start quickly given the long  planning timeline.

 I agree that sleepers cant be included as you don't see anything! So could I put in a plea for St Erth to St Ives in place of the Night Riviera?
