Devon Live have an update on Edginswell Station.  Still in the running but looks like familiar issues and delays experienced by other lines/stations are being felt there too.

https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/new-torquay-gateway-train-station-8694751

Devon live still using the image from the 2016 scheme with ramps that expired in 2019. There are no images of the new scheme, other than plans and elevations, with lifts yet.

New plans gone in 22 August 2023 for the new station with lifts.  P/2023/0708. Let's hope they haven't lost the money; probably not enough now.

If the line is blocked between Plymouth and Penzance, why is delaying services from Newton?

I think Newton Abbot became "full".  A number of services were held there to prevent them being stranded between stations further west.

I have heard one report that an empty Castle set was shunted out to the start of the Heathfield branch.

OpenTrains showing a HST (High Speed Train) up the Heathfield branch at 11.45. I was waiting for some visitors at Paignton.
RealTime trains has 2C67 (43156/43155) Exeter Penzance terminating in platform 3 which it would need to, to go up the branch and just disappearing.

1C70 is 65 minutes late so that's likely to terminate at Exeter; Newton Abbot if you're lucky. It is diabolical what's happened to that train this week. Different stock every day, same crew???

Wrote too soon it's already cancelled Newton Abbot to Paignton so far.
It managed Newton Abbot and turned around in 8 minutes back on time.

3 coach instead of 9 from Paddington to Paignton? Surely not???

14:36 London Paddington to Paignton due 17:44
14:36 London Paddington to Paignton due 17:44 will be terminated at Exeter St Davids.
It will no longer call at Castle Cary, Dawlish, Teignmouth, Newton Abbot, Torre, Torquay and Paignton.

This is due to overcrowding as this train has fewer coaches than normal.
Will be formed of 3 coaches instead of 9. First class not available. Catering is not available. There are no reservations on this service.
The Exeter-Paignton has arrived at Paignton as 1Z85, leaves as booked at 1904 to Paddington using 800009

Just for clarity, was it genuinely a 3 car Turbo (or similar) on the 1436 Paddington to Paignton or did Journeycheck get it wrong?
RealTime trains.
https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:P75386/2023-06-20/detailed#allox_id=0

8000009 continued the service from Exeter to Paignton then made the return 1A98 to Paddington.

Third time lucky today or not.
Monday 802018 failed at Reading
Tuesday 802008 failed at Reading
Today    800310 left 29 late

Paignton-Exmouth has 5 two car trains out of the 7 diagrams. This is a bad week for the Devon Metro. First Barnstaple was cancelled.

Yesterday and today the 0703 Paddington to Paignton failed at Reading.
Yesterday a Castle set ran empty from Bristol to Taunton empty  then passenger to Paignton as the 0703. It retuned as far as Exeter when it was exchanged with an IET (Intercity Express Train) which continued on to Paddington. The castle set taking the IETs working to Cardiff.

Today166218 took up the the 0703 from Exeter -Paignton then it went 1055 Paignton to Paddington returning as the 1440 Paddington-Paignton being changed at Exeter for the last part by a 5 car IET.

There were three short formed 150s on Exmouth-Paignton this morning including 2T07, the school train, The 200 pupils on this train are now identifying as cattle instead of cats.

Unusual - YES
Diabilical - NO
Far from ideal - YES
But better than no train - YES

Expect more of this sort of thing with the DfT» (Department for Transport - about) slowly taking away GWR (Great Western Railway)'s trains...
I admit the managers did the best of a bad job. What trains are Dft taking away that would cause the same failure. I don't know if it was the same stock number. GWR have got one extra train with the reform of two 3 car 158s as three 2 Car trains. The service has been working well since the new timetable with up to 4 Turbos working the Devon Metro until this week. Is it Glastonbury?

40  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: Dawlish - permanent resilience work - ongoing discussions on: June 19, 2023, 20:26:15
Was watching from 3.30am and nothing really happened until 6am when the lift shaft section that the bridge was to lie on was craned over and then craned back because it would not fit properly. Craned back over and they were able to fit the section. Must have been an hour before they were happy. The bridge was then craned over and fitted in 10 minutes.
They then had time to add the top section of the lift shaft on the carpark side and then the top cap which took longer than the bridge. Aligning of the upright connectors again.

The 120 bus provides the service Paignton to Kingwear in 22 minutes with a morning and return service to South Devon College.

https://bustimes.org/services/120-paignton-bus-station-kingswear-banjo

The main disadvantage is the uphill walk from the ferry to the banjo. Top of a double decker and the route is quite hairy.

They don't have that many volunteers, but a lot of paid employees, albeit part time. Maybe the way to run a heritage line.

I have a friend who works in a kiosk at Dartmouth and it suits him fine as he was also doing shifts at the local SPAR shop.
43  Journey by Journey / Transport for London / Re: fluffiest, dirtiest and dustiest tube lines on: May 19, 2023, 08:19:10
Not only tube lines. I worked at Monument, Aldgate East, and Mile End and the ticket halls were just below the ground and if you blew your nose you had black dust in your hanky.

It wasn't helped pre 1971 when the steam locomotives came through especially if held at Aldgate East.
44  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: Use of 5 carriage IEPs on Paddington to Cornwall services on: April 18, 2023, 11:18:07
The 07.03 Paddington to Paignton was a 5 car 800011 today; usually 9 car.
45  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Cornish Branch Lines on: March 31, 2023, 18:51:18
4 car trains returned to St Ives this week.
