1  Sideshoots - associated subjects / Railway History and related topics / Re: The two extinct rail lines serving Lagonegro, Italy. on: April 26, 2024, 20:07:05
No.  With my acrophobia, I couldn't even look at that bridge, far less travel across it.  Roll Eyes

I commend this to all our readers: they are both brilliant!

16 minutes of fascinating discussion.  Grin

I've had a look at the Steam Dreams drinks list for those opting for Pullman dining.

FOUR types of Port!

Don't encourage him.  Grin

Yes.

It's perhaps become a bit of a commonality, but it is 'heartbreaking': they've stolen not only those historic lamps, but also the original tools he's collected over the years.  Angry

10. Kennet & Avon canal (I think)  Roll Eyes

Geographically close by, but, sorry, no.  Note lack of tow path.

That will teach me to pay more attention in class.  Grin

It's either the river Kennet or the river Avon, then?  Interestingly, there is more than one river Kennet, and there are several river Avons, in this country.  Grin

Since the scheme’s launch in April 2020, to 17th March 2024, the scheme has helped 8630 survivors, including 2423 children over five to safety.

Wow!  Shocked

That is amazing - and it's rather sad that such a scheme is obviously so necessary.  Roll Eyes

10  All across the Great Western territory / Diary - what's happening when? / Re: Is any one attending the TWSW(friday)? on: April 09, 2024, 23:31:14
I could attend on Friday, as I'm now retired.  Wink

Red Squirrel, how will you be travelling to Taunton - by train?  I could possibly join you, if you can put up with my company in the relatively confined space of a railway carriage for an hour or so.  Grin

11  Sideshoots - associated subjects / The Lighter Side / Re: Annoying / amusing use of completely irrelevant stock photos to illustrate press articles on: March 13, 2024, 17:03:47

I know Cotswold Line punctuality hasn't been great recently, but "closed" is taking it a bit far.

"Six months, and we'll get a charity to look after your dog while you're inside."

That's why I'm not a magistrate: politically incorrect.  Grin

Thanks, Chris.  Just that final 'm' on the previously posted link broke it.  Clan Line's post is fascinating - I'm riveted (so to speak)  Wink

The train driver in that Lavington incident escaped with no more than a sprained wrist - that's really quite remarkable, looking at the extent of the damage caused by the tree v the cab  Shocked
