Always used the stairs at Lancaster gate in the past. Last time I was there in 2019 they have stopped that exept in emergency.

The 1800Hp is Hybrid mode the engine is 900Kw so 1200Hp.

That is not going to be enough with ETH as well to get from Newbury to Penzance. I think even Plymouth to Penzance would be to far.

A Bus service might be a Improvement if it continued over the bridge to Hessle or Hull. When I travelled that way the connection was missed and I ended up paying for a taxi.

Just read about Boris talking to Joe Biden about railways in the times. I am afraid most of the article is behind a paywall.

The part about Bicester Bletchley is just a re announcement. Network rail are already rebuilding the Bletchley flyover they would not have started the most expensive bit unless the funding was already in place.

Someone at the DFT (Department for Transport) was trying to add some substance to the announcement of a small amount of money for Northumberland. However it backfired because the question of electrification of the Oxford Bletchley line became the main subject of the Interview.

I think if Boris wants to give Joe a treat he should arrange a trip up the line in a "heritage" DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) so he can travel in the front  passenger seats with the blinds up and enjoy seeing the route on the journey
Or an autocoach with a GWR (Great Western Railway) Pannier tank behind it.
Or the Steam Railmotor.
233  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture in the United Kingdom / Re: Airport stations - a bus ride too far from the away? on: January 20, 2021, 13:04:07
It seems strange to build a new station so close to Horsforth. It would be better to build a line to the Airport from the end of the existing turnback siding at Horsforth or to move some of the Commecial/Retail units elseware and extend the car park at Horsforth.

There is also a large pub ajacent to the station if that was moved as well there would be even more space for parking without affecting any housing.

The new station will be beyond the turnback siding so ether it will miss out on some services or a new turnback will be needed. The line goes into a cutting just beyond the new station site so a new turnback will require extensive earthworks.

It looks like a series of rusty dutch barns.

Maybe the new building at Reading west is not too bad after all.

Evesham Sir Henry Fowler

Fowler was born in Evesham and educated at Prince Henry's Grammar School. The school and its sports fields overlook the point at which the GWR (Great Western Railway) and Midland lines crossed in Evesham.

Pity about lockdown, I would have been down there immediately to verify the truth of the situation.

I wonder if there is a clause in the contract with Tregenna Castle that says:
The venue shall not be sold or leased to any company owned or controlled by Donald Trump until after the confrence has taken place. Smiley
