Hear are some "short hop" fares below the Olddield Park to Bath Spa ones:
Lelant to Lelant Saltings - £1.00 off peak day single (that's after 05:00). Culrain to Invershin - £2.00 anytime day single Ryde St Johns Road to Esplanade - £2.00 anytime, £1.10 evening or Sunday out Wrexham General to Wrexham Central - £2.00 anytime day single Aberdovey to Penhelig - £2.10 anytime day single Keyham to Dockyard - £2.20 anytime day single Llanrwst to North Llanrwst - £2.20 anytime day single Kirby to Headbolt Lane - £2.30 anytime day single Maghull to Maghull North - £2.30 anytime day single Reading to Reading West - £2.40 anytime day single Grimsby Docks to New Clee - £2.50 anytime day single Yetminster to Thornford - £2.50 anytime day single Severn Tunnel Junction to Caldicot - £2.60 anytime day single Birmingham Moor St to Bordesley - £3.00 anytime, £2.90 evening
Wales Valleys seem to have a minium fare of £2.70 for "quicker to walk" journeys such as Rhiwbina to Whitchurch and Barry Island to Barry. Barry Island to Barry Links if £279.00 anytime single.
Edit - I keep finding more low fares and editing them in ..

Hi - we've got a train-based holiday in Italy coming up which includes Interrail passes, and have been told to use them for the initial leg from Chippenham to London Paddington. The passes are marked 'class 1'. Might be a daft question, but can use them to travel first class on the GWR▸ service? John
If they are global (all country) passes then yes, but remember that you get just two days UK▸ - "inbound / outbound' is the intent - in your own country. Chippenham - Paddington (1st Class), Elizabeth line to Farringdon, Thamelsink to St Pancras all included as (but with a "seat reservation" fee that feels more like a supplement) is Eurostar and provide you start all legs of the journey in the UK in the same day, it's just one day off your pass. Example - Lisa and I the other week, Melksham to Swindon to London and onward to Brussels and Frankfurt in a single day. 1st class included coffee and snack on GWR, and gets you standard premier on Eurostar which include our lunch.

06:35 Salisbury to Worcester Foregate Street due 09:47
06:35 Salisbury to Worcester Foregate Street due 09:47 is being delayed at Ashchurch For Tewkesbury. This is due to a points failure. Technically a disruption to one of the trains that's scheduled / travelled our line, though I suspect that the number of passengers from south of Swindon to north of Cheltenham Spa on board was/is limited.

17:50 Gloucester to Salisbury due 20:06 will be reinstated and will now run as scheduled.

Today's industrial actiion has seen the cancellation of: (according to GW▸ JourneyCheck)
1W45 2251 Paddington to Worcester Parkway That's the last train - I wonder how they will get people home that roll up for it? Industrial action - as I understand it - is one of the few exceptions to "we'll provide an alternative". I hope they'll get people home ...

There are several stations in the Centre of Warsaw - each having underground of lines running East/West and in close proximity to one another. "Warszawa Centralna is connected by an underground passage to two other rail stations: to the west lies Warszawa Śródmieście WKD railway station, the terminus of the WKD suburban light rail line, and to the east lies Warszawa Śródmieście PKP, served by suburban trains run by Koleje Mazowieckie and Szybka Kolej Miejska" says WikiPedia
Having found the correct station, find the correct platform. Island platforms have tracks on both sides - a single platform number, but then two track numbers (and in order of their ranking across the whole station) and you need to find the right side of the island. For longer trains (and mine is 6 carriages today) you need to find the right sector of the platform and make sure you wait for the correct train number at the right time. Lots of trains call, and it had best be the right one. When it arrives, look for the correct carriage and the seat you have reserved in the carriage. Simples - don't know why some people find train travel so difficult.
Station Centralna Platform 2 Track 1 Sector 1 Train IC144 Time 07:46 Carriage 15 Seat 16
Oh - if you miss the train, don't worry - there will be another one to the same destination along tomorrow - it runs 7 days a week.

This should be interesting 5 hours on a train - I bought my reservation but it does not include a seat. The train manager tells me that's because the train is fully booked and "stand for 5 hours" is the theory. I'm sure that in practise it won't be full all the way - seated AT PRESENT but this could be fun. Train Manager confirms I can move around. Oh "Wider picture Overseas" - not GWR▸ Out of interest what was your reservation for if not an actual seat? Was it literally just allowing you onto the service? I'm not sure ... I suspect that they allow a certain "overspill" number for reservations that don't get taken up. I asked the chap on the platform who had "can I help you" on his tabard in English and he told me I might have to stay for 5 hours!

Here is the current Monday to Friday timetable - Saturday and Sunday there are just 3 return trips each way The connections ... 05:30 and 17:30 arrivals in Rosslare from FishguardSo that's the 07:20 train or the 05:35 next morning to carry on to Dublin 08:15 and 19:30 departures from Rosslare to FishguardSo that's an arrival into Rosslare at 20:42 the previous evening from Dublin, or at 16:33 North of Bray / Greystones, into Dublin, the trains don't seem to have a regular in-the-hour pattern to them, and are (yes, I admit) a darned nuisance between almost clock face Dart services; they often seem to get stuck behind the Dart and the journey takes an age.

From the Irish TimesThe National Transport Authority (NTA» ) is looking at plans to end direct rail services between Co Wexford and Dublin.
Two separate studies into capacity on the line are considering having passengers from the Rosslare line change from intercity trains to Dart carriages at either Wicklow or Greystones.
The move comes as passenger numbers on the line have grown strongly in recent years, with daily boardings at Wexford station in 2022 more than twice what they were in 2013. Passenger numbers at Enniscorthy have also grown significantly, while in May 2022, Irish Rail introduced a new night-time service between Gorey and Connolly, to meet demand.
The move also comes as Rosslare port is being rapidly expanded post-Brexit, including a new, €170 million facility for workers including gardaí, customs, HSE▸ , and Department of Agriculture personnel, for which Minister of State Patrick O’Donovan initiated construction last September. An interesting follow up to the old (nine year ago) story that the line was at risk. Passenger numbers have grown dramatically and there's now a consideration of splitting the service at Greystones or Wexford - the idea being to free up paths on the suburban line into Dublin, and be able to run the diesel trains more frequently on the shorter part of the route.

Hi all,
Are day ranger tickets (specifically GWR) still able to purchase at ticket offices?
Thanks GWR 158
My understanding is that day ranger tickets can be purchased at any open (staffed) ticket office. Some online descriptions say "only available with in the area shown on the map", but I think that relates to travel and not to purchase. So (for example) you could buy a North Downs Day Ranger at the Westbury station ticket office on your way out to sample the joys of Reigate, Dorking and Gomshall.
