the driver-guard buzzer will not be operational, so the train will need to be despatched with flags.

Out of interest, does it have to be flags or can the RA indicators - where available - be used?

I can certainly confirm a train arrived at 08:21 - I saw it as I waited over on Platform 4 for the 08:27.

Not sure what happened to that train on Monday - according to the arrival screens at Swindon it was due to arrive there four minutes after leaving Melksham....

FGW (First Great Western) have announced the Night Riviera Sleepers will resume on the evening of the 4th April.  Previously they were set to recommence on the 9th April.

I was also told the logo was reversed because ships past left to left while trains, in general, pass right side to right side - hence making the reversed logo more appropriate for Sealink.

As someone who has left property on a train (and been re-united with it) I don't have a problem paying for my carelessness.

The recent Channel 5 documentary showed the amount of property that has to be dealt with at FGW (First Great Western)'s Lost property office at Bristol Temple Meads and that comes at a cost.

As for Wightlink not charging for items left on their ferries I suspect the amount of property left on their limited number of ferries is much less in quantity that most bus or train fleets. It might cost more to administer a charging scheme for the amount of property they collect than the money they would take in.

Maybe for two reasons.  Firstly to keep sets up to strength as the conversions take place while in the longer term give additional opportunities to release coaches for maintenance.   It has already been noted on here how many seem to be running, or rather thumping, around with wheelflats.

I hope the new lights illuminating the various tracks around the new depot are LEDs - otherwise someone is going to have a fulltime job replacing them given the number of lights there are!  Grin

Just for the record the train was cancelled and then re-instated in the space of nine minutes, of course how many people saw it in that "cancelled" period we will never know.

However later in the day..

Quote
15:06 Westbury to Swindon due 15:50

This train will be cancelled.
This is due to earlier signalling problems.
5490  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Short HST's on: March 22, 2014, 14:08:29
I think it is more to do with Dawlish than conversions.

I have seen one 2+6 in use and also a 2+7 with no Coach E and the Coach F with a mini buffet turned round so the buffet was next to coach D, meaning anyone in First - and the Customer Host with the trolley - had to go through the standard class section of F to reach the buffet.
