Might be an idea to remove that copyright notice? Surely that's a NR» (Network Rail - home page) diagram?
8822  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Slipping and Sliding in the West on: December 01, 2013, 19:42:07
Technically, winter starts December 21 - meteorlogically, it started today.
8823  Journey by Journey / London to Swindon and Bristol / Re: Signalling problems Swindon - 26 Nov 13 on: November 29, 2013, 10:59:07
Won't prevent the power failures recently experienced either...

How weird - reviews were good & audience impressive
8826  Journey by Journey / Swindon to Gloucester / Cheltenham / Re: Swindon to Kemble re-doubling - ongoing discussion and updates on: November 28, 2013, 10:57:17
You've forgotten the 'electric spine', due before either of those.
8827  Journey by Journey / Swindon to Gloucester / Cheltenham / Re: Swindon to Kemble re-doubling - ongoing discussion and updates on: November 25, 2013, 22:08:20
Surely there must be a case for electrifying Bristol to Birmingham. The wires are being extended to Bromsgrove so why not to Bristol? Added to that electrification of Birmingham to the ECML (East Coast Main Line) would seem sensible.

What rolling stock would you suggest using once this isdone, assuming done in this control period?

Blimey - that could have been printed back when the new franchisewas awarded. Did they have no current news to print?
8829  Sideshoots - associated subjects / Campaigns for new and improved services / Re: Department for Transport - Survey of Rail User Groups on: November 21, 2013, 12:24:12
Aaaah, at long last!

I made the point that User Groups are able to put in their input, but generally only at very high level - Stakeholders like Passenger Focus, County Councils and views tend to get lost to DFT (Department for Transport) staffers at various meetings over the last 12 months or so, and I was told that this would be discussed and actioned if felt necessary.

I'm glad that they seem to agree & are running this survey.

Yes, I'm aware direct response to the DfT» (Department for Transport - about) is usually available, but finding out that ITTs (Invitation to Tender) are out to tender is no mean feat either.

There were two HST (High Speed Train) FGW (First Great Western) drivers tweeting yesterday saying it was the worst day for adhesion in deveral years & that 30mph was the fastest they wanted to travel at.
8831  Sideshoots - associated subjects / Campaigns for new and improved services / Folkestone Harbour Station to Close on: November 21, 2013, 11:57:42
Network Rail propose to close the station & branch line

However, the line's Preservation Society think otherwise

There's too much to quote here. Mods feel free to amend if you think it necessary.

Also, suspension of service Gloucester - Swindon earlymorning two days running, I think because of signal problems

This is a problem with the online version - the printed version is correct.
I'll get the web file amended as soon as possible.

8834  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Winter Timetables now online on: November 20, 2013, 10:39:11
Great new summary timetable of services between Cardiff/Bristol and the South Coast
http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/~/media/PDF/TicketsAndTrainTimes/TrainTimes/December%202013%20Timetables/TTC03a_Web.ashx

But such a shame that the Saturday and Sunday timetables of services in both directions are completely wrong showing all Cardiff-Portsmouth trains going via Weymouth and not Warminster in one direction and not stopping at Westbury in the other. Doesn't someone check these things before they go to print?

Anyone who has contacts with FGW (First Great Western) publications department want to let them know of this issue with this timetable?

Done.
8835  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Station and on board train announcements - merged topic, ongoing discussion on: November 20, 2013, 10:32:48
The pedants took that apart when trains kept stopping at signals twixt stations....:-)
