The only ticket available for that journey is routed Salisbury. However, if you go via. Basingstoke, you are still passing through Salisbury on your way to Basingstoke, so that is valid.
Also I've just checked the Roueting Guide. Gillingham is in both Yeovil and Salisbury group. Yeovil-Eastleigh is permitted through maps BB+LE (plus others) which both include Basingstoke.
So going via Basingstoke on the Salisbury ticket is allowed.
The Gillingham - Eastleigh ticket allows a break of journey, so you would be able to terminate your journey early at Basingstoke. HOWEVER, the Gillingham - Basingstoke ticket is valid ANY PERMITTED whilst Gillingham - Eastleigh is valid SALISBURY. So you must ensure you pass through Salisbury.

Do they operate anything (not a train) which is older, and if so, what?
Bristol Temple Meads - 1840? I like the answer ... but isn't that the date of the original platforms which closed in the mid 1960s? Very true. Just done a bit more research and seen that Brunel's station is now the building that used to house the British Empire & Commonwealth Museum. The main entrance (ticket office area) was built in 1870 and seems to be the oldest part still in operation.

Why do you want them? They don't work on most barriers.
I knew someone would ask, hence the "This may seem like a strange question" in the OP▸ . I'm actually in need of them as a gift (yes, I know). Basically, I was chatting to a relative at Christmas. Got onto the fact that he collects train tickets (I'm sure there is a name for them). Anyway, apparently all his tickets are either on Common Stock, hand written or pre- APTIS▸ - he doesn't have anything in the ATB format (except a Eurostar ticket). That got me thinking, a good gift for him for his birthday would be a train ticket to somewhere, which was printed in the ATB format. This brings me onto my next question, do any travel agents issue tickets in other formats? I believe he doesn't have anything that has been issued by a travel agent - so that would be a good xmas present for next year!

This may seem like a strange question, but has anyone recently had any tickets from a TOC▸ 's telesales that come in the ATB format? (Like Eurostar or airline tickets)
I believe that SWT▸ were still issuing them but have now switched away from Tribute, so only issue the common stock tickets.
Is there anywhere else that these can still be obtained?

Same problem again today - very few (if any) Southern services running beyond Havant despite "We will be running a full timetable". Fortunately, he had already made alternative arrangements so didn't need the train today Totally appalled at the lack of information that is available. The Southern website occasionally lists the disrupted service, but usually tells you just to call Customer Services. No information given to the people waiting at the station. What I don't quite understand is this: Southern services are running between Victoria and Havant & Brighton and Havant. SWT▸ are also running services between Havant and Cosham and Southampton/Woolston (albeit only every 1-1.5 hours), so what is stopping Southern's services?

Not an FGW▸ subject, but related to the area.
Yesterday my dad attempted to get an SN service from Cosham to Swanwick to get to work. Bought his ticket for ^4.40, routed Southern Only.
On the platform, he saw that all Southern services were cancelled due to ice. Fair enough, perhaps his ticket will be accepted on SWT▸ ? Popped over to the ticket office and was told he would need to pay a 40p excess fare to change it to Any Permitted.
He was about to pay when they announced that SWT wouldn't be stopping at Swanwick (no reason given).
They said that he could get an SWT or FGW to Fareham then, to use their words, "see what was happening with regards to alternative transport". Only afterwards did he realise that he should have got the train to Fareham then played the "stranded" card in order to get a taxi/bus/something to Swanwick.
In the end, he got a refund on the ticket. Fortunately, I was in the area so drove him into work. He managed to get a lift with a colleague back home.
Fast forward to today and still no Southern services beyond Havant. There is one SWT service every 1-1.5 hours which stops at Swanwick. No sign of any bustitution, so again I was called to drive him to work so he wasn't late.
It seemed to be a complete shambles, especially yesterday when there were no replacements buses run and no information given about what was being offered at Fareham. Bad weather may be unexpected but you would expect the TOC▸ to have a contingency plan in place?!

I think we've all encountered "the old dear" on a train at some point.
I was travelling back from Portsmouth to Bristol on a Sunday evening (reduced to 2 coaches) so a seat with a table was a luxury, which I had specifically reserved in order to get some work done.
When I boarded at Cosham, I quickly found my reserved seat, which surprise surprise was occupied by a huge suitcase with an old dear in the next seat. I said to her politely "Excuse me, I have this seat reserved". She just looked at me. I then said "Would you like me to move your suitcase to the luggage rack". "NO". "Fair enough, would you like me to get the guard?" She then agreed to have the suitcase in the aisle (fortunately there is no trolley service on a Sunday).
When the guard came past to check tickets, the old dear mentioned something about the suitcase. His response was simply "do you want to buy a ticket for your suitcase?" Which conveniently shut her up for at least 3 minutes. Guard didn't bother checking either of our tickets (not entirely sure why?)
Guard was changed at Westbury and the new one wanted ALL tickets for inspection. I deliberately waited until the guard was very close to get out my ticket to see what the old dear said. "Bet he doesn't have a ticket" she announced to the guard. My response "do you have a reservation to sit in that seat?" Having noted that the reservation label was for SOU-SAL she obviously didn't have one. That shut her up for the rest of the journey!
