Sleeper set went through Dawlish mid morning on the up.

Had a look today - the cross over is at Lostwithiel and you would only get a 153 across the ground frame into Parkway platform 3.

Looked at platform 3 which could be connected to the main line except for a few problems.

You would need two sets of points one of which would be on the road bridge - this would need a trap to protect the main line and whatever was derailed would end up in the river at the bottom of a steep embankment.

Indeed, his pitch to local media was so ridiculous it was funny. The thing was none of them queried the lack of infrastructure.
He also wanted a new station "Okehampton Parkway" next to the A30 to serve the Bude area.
If I remember correctly.
Approach BOD and cross over to the up - change ends and reverse in platform 2 - change ends and reverse across the ground frame  to the engine shed - change ends - set two manual points - reverse onto platform 3 - change ends, set manual points and continue to Bodmin General.
I don't think anything but a 153 or 150 will fit in the platform 3 engine shed spur.

Does anyone know what has happened to the Dawlish cam?  Not been able to get on line with it for the last 10 days or so.  Can't find anything on the t'internet about it.

Temporary feed back on now.

Welcome to the forum folrmc.  I've just tidied up your opening post to clarify the quote and your post.  Have you a view on the crossing remaining open or being closed?

I used the crossing a lot - at minimum if re-opened it would need to be light controlled which would be very simple as there is a controlled crossing nearby
Sighting of 'down' trains is poor there as the up and down lines merge to single track -  the single line appearing from around a bend where the 'W' board is sited.
I've had a close one there when I didn't hear the horn of a 150.

Exeter St Davids has them - don't know why - when visiting the City it's easier to take the train to Exeter Central and walk.

Clearly states Not valid on Anytime fares, this would mean peak tickets?!

I don't have one any more as I'm 'Senior' now but they are off peak only - they can be used before 9am depending on where you board the train i.e. St Erth 8.55 am on the up.
Fantastic value for money as you can take a friend at the same discounted fare - combine that with a PlusBus for say Plymouth and that's a cheap day out.
25  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Mass disruption due to flooding - December 2012 on: December 22, 2012, 15:32:02
Obviously being DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) worked so assume no HST (High Speed Train) available.    The provision of buses can depend on availability, something outside the Railway Industry control.

And Crews - the 9:50 HST from PNZ was about 1h:15 late despite there being 4 HSTs at Long Rock - looked like they had to wait for the delayed Sleeper Crew to do the return working.

Crossing to be closed until further notice.

28  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Devon / Re: Marley Tunnels on: May 22, 2012, 21:03:48
The 20mph speed restriction on the down line tunnel has been lifted but remains in place on the up line tunnel.Have heard it could be a long term problem.

All clear now.

There was also a 5mph EROS (Emergency Restriction Of Speed) at Starcross earlier due to a hole forming...

Yes - I went over the hole at 3pm just after being held at Exeter St Thomas for a trespass incident.
30  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: St Ives branch line - timetables, engineering work, closures, incidents (merged topics) on: May 15, 2012, 01:56:16
Whoop whoop - Summers here - 2 x 150 on the St Ives branch.
More capacity than XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) supply to go to the Midlands.
