16  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: 'West' fleet refurbishment on: August 10, 2007, 23:29:46
This is correct FGW (First Great Western) have more units than Wessex!

The December issue of units going off lease is helped by another major timetable change meaning less requirement. Will be like December 2006 over again with service cuts.....

17  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: 'West' fleet refurbishment on: August 10, 2007, 12:12:09
Well its rather hard to release units for refurb, sorry refresh, when there is barely enough working to keep the daily service running....
18  Journey by Journey / Heart of Wessex / Weymouth LHCS on: August 10, 2007, 11:22:28
The Weymouth loco hauled train will NOT run again this year due to various disputes :<

Also loco hauled additionals for Dawlish carnival next week cancelled.

I belive the it is seat covers as opposed to seats that are new

The 153s are having totally new, higher seats. Class 150s and most the 158 will be same seats with new moquette. First unit to be done is a 158, and will now go to 'works' end of August.

20  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: First Official ^Poet On The Platform^ For First Great Western on: August 08, 2007, 12:03:40
We cant run a railway to save our lives, but hey we have got poets on the platform for you to listen to while waiting for your late train or alternate road transport. What a load of tripe.
21  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Network Kernow - Soon To Become Reality Or Just A Mirage? on: July 25, 2007, 11:01:39
Work has NOT started at Penryn, the loop will only use the exsisting platform face with the loop starting half way along it. This keeps it cheap without the need to reinstate the second platform and provide footbridge access....

22  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Newquay Branch line - engineering work, closures, incidents (merged topics) on: July 13, 2007, 12:17:38
Today (Friday) FGWs (First Great Western) 09:05 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) to NQY (Newquay (Station)) is yet again rammed to the gunnels and loosing time as a result.

Am fairly sure cheap tickets to NQY Fri-Mon are non-exsistant.
23  All across the Great Western territory / Who's who on Western railways / Re: Alison Forster Mans The Catering Trolley on: July 05, 2007, 00:01:12
As far as Devon/Cornwall are concerned we are all completed p**ssed off with our new employee, hence why so many people have left lately! We are supposed to be proud to work for such an outfit, get real, what a bunch of pennypinching tight assed retards.....
24  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Buffet Cars on: July 04, 2007, 23:58:21
Well, wasnt sure where to post this but here comes the FGW (First Great Western) buffet car farce. From December 2007 FGW will have 53 HST (High Speed Train) sets, but only 26 will convey buffet cars, the rest will be 7 coach 'high density sets'.

Out of the 26 sets that have buffet cars only 16 will have the 407xx series capable of conveying a proper restaurant service, so as far as I can tell like the rest of the franchise it will be a complete farce, the sets will never keep to booked jobs so we can see the 18:03 ex PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) 'Golden Hind' to Penzance as a 7 coach train with no buffet car and just a trolley that can move nowhere on a Friday night due to passenger numbers.

First 'First for being tight and not leasing 27 buffet coachs'. How on earth such a complete piss poor company can run a train service that could be the countires best is beyond me.....

Please, please, get First outa here for the sake of everyone that wants rail to suceed.......

Help, SACK FARCE GROUP NOW.......
25  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Ticket Machines - machines missing or broken, and penalty fare implications (merged topics) on: June 29, 2007, 01:05:04
Bodmin Parkway in Cornwalls TVM (Ticket Vending Machine) suffered damage by people trying to break in. They failed just leaving scars to the base of the machine. But fear not, they returned and instead of damaging it, they took the whole bloody thing! They may survive around Bristol, but Bodmins has been stolen!!
26  Journey by Journey / Heart of Wessex / Re: Extra Weymouth Service????? on: June 29, 2007, 01:02:26
oh its 101% happening, but if no one uses it it'll be a good reason not to do it next year!!
27  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Ticket Machines - machines missing or broken, and penalty fare implications (merged topics) on: June 24, 2007, 14:40:35
Well this is tripe as if the machine is out of order then the station has no ticket issuing facilities in which case you are perfectly entitled to board a train without a ticket. Then if you dont see a guard if the trains full and standing or they are work shy etc your first oppurtunity is on arrival at your destination.

Just out of interest am fairly sure no penalty fares have been issued within the recently extended penalty fare zone??

The Butlins trains are 100% off.
29  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Devon / Re: Ivybridge Passenger Figures Rise - But With A Caveat on: June 20, 2007, 11:10:48
I am also sure the loss of two out of 3 morning stopping trains from December will have had a huge impact,

It would be fairly easy to reinstate the early Dockyard train in my opinion, but no doubt there is a reason why it cant be done. My idea would be:

There are currently three units kept on Plymouth Laira overnight. One two car class 150 which does the first two Tamar Valley trips then through to Newquay. Then theres two single car class 153 units, the first goes empty to Liskeard the other sits at Plymouth to work the 09:34 Plymouth to Gunnislake.

Why not run the two class 153s empty as a pairing to Liskeard (train runs as 05:14 Laira to Liskeard arrive 05:51). Split the units in the yard, one takes up its Looe duty. The other forms a 06:40 all stations to Plymouth following the Golden Hind which could be used to travel from further west and change at Liskeard into the new 06:40. This would be the same as what was the 06:14 ex Par in the pre December timetable and connect at Plymouth into the 07:25 VT (Virgin Trains - former franchises) departure. Would give all the Dockyard workers their train back.

So why cant this be done? Queue list of reasons from FGW (First Great Western)..........
