796  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Sherford new town proposals and possible rail links to Plymouth on: September 03, 2008, 00:41:35
Reintroducing trains to the Yealmpton line would be near impossible now without major expenditure - there are several bridges missing, demolished to allow high vehicles access (like over the Ride for buses and Tip access), some of the route has been built over and another part is access to a quarry.

The current plan is to develop part of the route as a cycle/pedestrian route, and another as a bus exclusive roadway.

Cheers,
a missed connection means an hours+ wait at Newton when I could have had a hour extra at home, i hope not!

I'm travelling to London in a few weeks on an Advance Single ticket that requires you to travel on the specified train, which i've done loads of times no problems, however my journey this time requires a change at Newton Abbot with just 4 minutes interchange (this is a FGW (First Great Western) recommended connection and shown in the timetable).  So what happens if my train from Plymouth is late and I don't get the connection, what happens to the validity of the ticket?

The most comfortable FGW (First Great Western) standard carriage is the the refurbished Night Rivera
801  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Quiet Carriage / Coach: restrictions and issues - ongoing discussion, merged topic on: September 03, 2008, 00:18:37
By the looks of things there is no distinction between normal and quiet coaches on the reservations system, I tried to book seats once online and just got shoved around coach A each time until the system told me there were no more seats left.

(Actually there's a bit more to this saga with seat reservations, but that's another thread and involves one other TOC (Train Operating Company))
