Webcam 1/1 has now gone missing
Lost property ? Wink

with the three remaining now renumbered downwards by one.  Cam 1/4 is now the 'test card'...

*sniff* I was so looking forwards to saying "Number 5 is alive!" Smiley

Camera 1, tab 1 went offline @ 03:00 today. A precursor to the bridge removal ? [ I'd assumed the camera was on it ? ]

What I'm thinking here is that having come up the ramps/stairs and over the subway, pedestrians will then have to turn immediately sharp right and go over towards the south side of Station Hill - in other words to cut across the worksite with barriers both right and left?

From the way things are currently shaping up it looks like your prediction is spot on !

On that last point II, I'll just suggest you explain to your five friends that rail tickets are not priced solely by distance. The fares are also market led or government regulated.

I suspect one might be explaining for quite some time. As a complete lay-person I don't get that and will never get that.

501  Journey by Journey / Thames Valley Branches / Easter 2013 timetable. on: February 05, 2013, 12:34:47
I've been looking over the timetables published for this line over the Easter period.

I note that for the period 2nd April - 6th April all services passing through Reading West to Reading have this segment of the journey timed at 13 minutes. This is usually only 4-5 minutes and indeed the services running from Reading through Reading West over this period are still of that order.
Even the replacement bus service on Sunday 7th is timed at 10 minutes.

Does anyone know of any funky routing or other reason for this ?

With this being an hourly service too I'm tempted to drive.

502  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Line Problem near Honeybourne on 31st January 2013. on: February 01, 2013, 10:26:49
It appears that the 1722 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains)-HFD» (Hereford - next trains) did run through and that the first up train was the 1944 GMV-PAD, formed by the Class 180 and started from Shrub Hill, according to JourneyCheck.

I got off the 1722 at RDG(resolve) but the train manager made an announcement to the effect that it would run through. At PAD it was in doubt.

There was a large amount of digging going on at the far western end of P8/P9 yesterday evening, quite why I could not tell.

Signalling Problems between London Paddington and Slough.

Monday 20th January 2013. Update : 17:00.

We are experiencing signalling problems between London Paddington and Slough. We are working with Network Rail to have access to all four lines but we are currently continuing to only be able to operate over two lines.

Services will be reduced to accommodate this reduction in lines available to us.

508  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Major delays/cancellations, Paddington to Reading, 20 December 2012 and ongoing ... on: December 21, 2012, 09:36:58
If traveling to exeter from egham this morning, what is best - go via reading as planned and hope for the best in terms of booked train/seat, or consider trying SWT (South West Trains) trains via Woking or Clapham?

As a data point, I incurred a 24 minute delay on the 08:08 from Reading which departed pretty much on time and called additionally at Twyford. This was considerably better than the services last night though it was absolutely packed.

However, the last picture shows a mysterious package, marked Kone,  being transported across the ML's.  Kone make escalators, so it looks like the first bit of escalator is being moved across to the new platforms.

As of yesterday evening, a large pre-fabbed escalator is sat in one of the wells on the east side of P8.
It's not in final position yet, it's at more of a reclined angle.
510  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Reading Station improvements on: December 03, 2012, 12:15:37
The far end of the country end of P8 had been dug up this morning, quite a lot of pipes, services revealed.

The end of platform 8 has pretty much disappeared altogether now.
P7 was closed again yesterday (Sunday) for more delvings. It's quite a hike to P3 via the temporary side entrance.
