Journey by Journey / Bristol (WECA) Commuters / Re: Accessibility improvements

For about 8 years now, Lostwithiel Town Council and Town Forum have been emphasising the need for a replacement footbridge at the station, predominantly because of the disruption that the adjacent level crossing causes, only enhanced by the much welcomed increased frequency of services. Indeed we are of the opinion that when also considering the additional clay freight movements reversing at Lostwithiel, that the Lostwithiel Crossing is the most frequently triggered crossing west of Exeter. When the Totnes Footbridge, was recently replaced, Cornwall Council and Network Rail worked to ensure that the structure was saved while a feasibility study for relocating it to Lostwithiel was carried out, which also allowed for improvements to disability access to the Down platform. It is fantastic that, our representations have been heard at the highest level, and our ongoing thanks must go to Sheryll Murray MP▸ , Cornwall Council, Network Rail, and GWR▸ . https://1drv.ms/b/s!AsqRsk9ojkQagohhfOtD_WtgRLW4sg?e=C2pad8

Great replies thank you. Have looked at the app, but it doesn't seem to accept the Devon and Cornwall Railcard which was the one I had in play on Saturday.
Might just be simpler to take it out of the ticket wallet, and put it into my daily wallet, (and risk it being eaten by moths !)

All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / e railcard

Recently tried using e tickets for the first time with tickets displayed on my phone app. It was only when asked for my ticket did i realise that I had forgotten to bring the associated railcard with me. The guard concerned was very understanding and let the mistake pass.
My question would be is there any mechanism by which the railcard can be stored also on the phone, for example would a photo of the railcard in question be valid ?
Is there an opportunity for the railcard system to keep pace with e tickets and also be held/ stored within the app ?
Cheers all.

Had the day working at the Brunel Quays residential estate, adjacent to the mainline at Lostwithiel Station yesterday, the first time I have done so for a while. Spending all day working in the gardens next to the line, the enhanced frequency of services was very evident as was the diverse range of rolling stock working the route.
Well done GWR▸ and CC for making that happen.

GWR▸ and Network Rail officially launched the half hourly service through Cornwall yesterday. With part of the project funded by the European Union the event had to be delayed until after last week's European Elections. Throughout Cornwall giant deckchairs have appeared at stations with a familiar message on them. Among those attending the short ceremony at Penzance were eight mayors and two MPs▸ from the county. It seems the collective name for a group of Mayors is a chain-gang! Many of the extra services are provided by the 2+4 HSTs▸ - the Castle Class - and it is the first time I have seen two side by side. Admittedly our group did boost the numbers but the services I travelled on were well used so it does seem the service will fill a need and lead to more usage. As for the chairs - it appears people do use them... this was at Par Just one word of warning - don't be tempted to sit in one if there is no one about. It took a Network Rail director and a GWR Press Officer to get me out of this one... A great example of what can be achieved through partnership working. Really positive day. Good to see you there bobm.

Certainly, the aspiration here in Lostwithiel is the retention of sufficient railway land to allow for the reinstatement of the sidings area for future railway use, and this is included in our emerging neighbourhood plan. For heritage use the missing third, or branch, bridge over the River Fowey would have to be reinstated.
While a networked branch with GWR▸ services is an aspiration, the cessation of freight services on the branch, might allow for a combined narrow gauge and cycle route to Fowey, but no one would wish the demise of the clay industry to the extent that exports from Fowey are no longer viable. Too much of the mid Cornwall economy depends on the Clay industry.
