Undoubtedly I came across, on the ECML (East Coast Main Line) electrification (so BR (British Rail(ways)) days), a complete night's worth of possession and work abandoned because the driver of the ballast train didn't turn up. Roll Eyes

Letter to today's Telegraph reasonably quotes the Network Rail's "Guidelines for Railway Enthusiasts" and then goes on to quote the bit about informing the DSM at Major stations.
Does Macclesfield quite fit the bill as a major station? and moreover, the gent in question was seeing off a relative, and thought he'd snap some trains whilst on platform.
I just see the whole thing as quite bizarre...picking the low-hanging fruit, to use the politicos' most recent trendy expression...anyone like to hazard a guess at who coined that one (it's a good one mind!) Huh

Can only report today's journeys...York-Birmingham and return...both 125 sets. Excellent, comfortable runs...no buffet mind, but trolleys.
Amazingly the return North (16.03 B New St) runs to Glasgow central. Huh

BTW (by the way), they weren't noisy but pretty rock and rolly! Grin

That's interesting...current CC pamphlet picked up today from York indicates york arrival as 2139...stop. If it does then I assume it goes back to Leeds empty stock!
Will let you know Wink

Mmm...as reported in the York Press, including my thoughts...doubt if I'll be allowed to go to the bookstall now..."there he is...that that, damn contibuter!"

That's excellent...many many thanks. I live in York, son lives in Falmouth and whilst I enjoy the Yk-Kx-Padd-Truro run on 125s...thought I'd like to try CC...will report back, cheers. Jim

Anyone know the timings of the Cross Country 125 sets that venture into the West Country? I assume they are Newcastle/Plymouth trains.
