331  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: October 01, 2018, 08:27:56
Quote
05:28 Hereford to London Paddington due 08:28 has been cancelled.
This is due to a broken down train.

Additional Information
Customers are advised to travel on the next available train service.

For some, the next available train being:

Quote
07:10 Moreton-in-Marsh to London Paddington due 08:51 has been delayed at Hanborough and is now 24 minutes late.
This is due to a fault on this train.

The fault being a door which wouldn't close.
332  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Infrastructure problems in Thames Valley causing disruption elsewhere - ongoing, since Oct 2014 on: September 28, 2018, 18:10:41
Due to a fault with the signalling system at London Paddington fewer trains are able to run on some lines.
Impact: Train services running to and from this station may be delayed by up to 10 minutes. Disruption is expected until 17:30 28/09.

Due to a fault with the signalling system between Ealing Broadway and Slough trains have to run at reduced speed on some lines towards Reading.
Impact: Train services running through these stations may be delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until 16:45 28/09.

Expected disruption times now 19:30 and 20:00 respectively, though actual delays seem to be minimal - most of this evening's cancellations appear to be due to crew shortages.
333  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: September 27, 2018, 15:22:22
I was on the 05:28, and remarkably it went from 15' late at M-in-M to 2' late at Paddington, pickup 12' by virtue of the 'express' run between M-in-M and Oxford.

Those waiting for that train on the platform at Hanborough said it went through very quickly indeed!

Delays to services between Worcester Shrub Hill and Evesham

Following a late running freight train between Worcester Shrub Hill and Evesham all lines are disrupted.
Train services running through these stations are returning to normal. Disruption is expected until 08:45 27/09.

Delays on some London bound peak services including:

Quote
04:47 Hereford to London Paddington due 07:52 has been delayed at Worcester Shrub Hill and is now 24 minutes late.
This is due to a fault with the signalling system earlier today.

05:28 Hereford to London Paddington due 08:28 will no longer call at Charlbury and Hanborough.
It has been delayed at Worcester Shrub Hill and is now 20 minutes late.
This is due to a late running freight train.

and also the 05:11 Worcester Shrub Hill to Paddington departed WOS» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains) 24 late, arriving at Paddington 14 late.

335  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: September 25, 2018, 18:42:49
Probably something routine but for the record:

Quote
18:29 Great Malvern to London Paddington due 21:05 will be started from Worcester Foregate Street.
It will no longer call at Great Malvern and Malvern Link.
This is due to a fault on this train.

Only reason I mention it is that the outward bound 15:22 Paddington to Great Malvern lost 25 minutes between Wolvercote Junction and Ascott-under-Wychwood (arriving at Hanborough on time), and the reason given on Realtime Trains was rather more unusual:

Quote
This service was cancelled between Worcester Shrub Hill and Great Malvern due to an unexpected number of passengers joining/alighting the service (RB)
336  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: September 21, 2018, 10:21:25
A knock on from the signalling problems between Didcot and Swindon this morning:

Quote
09:21 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 11:31 has been cancelled.
This is due to a fault with the signalling system.

12:00 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 14:27 will be cancelled.
This is due to a fault with the signalling system.
337  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: September 14, 2018, 18:18:07
No line updates on JourneyCheck but a speed restriction due to defective track between Oxford and Evesham is causing some degree of congestion including so far:

Quote
15:22 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington due 17:28 will no longer call at Slough.
It has been delayed between Worcester Shrub Hill and Oxford and is now 45 minutes late.
This is due to a speed restriction over defective track.

Quote
15:51 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 17:59 will be terminated at Reading.
It will no longer call at Slough and London Paddington.
It has been delayed at Charlbury and is now 45 minutes late.
This is due to a speed restriction over defective track.

Quote
17:38 Moreton-in-Marsh to London Paddington due 19:03 will be terminated at Reading.
It will no longer call at Slough and London Paddington.
This is due to a speed restriction over defective track.

outward bound 15:50 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains):MIM surprisingly going beyond Oxford and arriving at MIM 28 minutes late

Quote
19:22 London Paddington to Hereford due 22:52 will be started from Reading.
It will no longer call at London Paddington and Slough.
This is due to a speed restriction over defective track.

later update

Line update now on JourneyCheck:

Quote
Delays to services between Oxford and Worcester Shrub Hill
Due to a speed restriction over defective track between Oxford and Worcester Shrub Hill trains have to run at reduced speed.
Train services running through these stations may be delayed by up to 45 minutes. Disruption is expected until 20:30 14/09.
Last Updated:14/09/2018 18:18

and the 15:14 Hereford to Paddington has just come through Wolvercote Junction 58 minutes late having been almost on time at Ascott-under-Wychwood.

Days like this certainly support the case for further redoubling at the eastern end of the line as per IndustryInsider's new thread today.

further update

Quote
18:22 London Paddington to Hereford due 21:32 will be diverted between Reading and Worcester Shrub Hill.
It will no longer call at Oxford, Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh, Honeybourne, Evesham and Pershore but will call additionally at Didcot Parkway.
It is being delayed between Reading and Worcester Shrub Hill and is now expected to be 15 minutes late.
This is due to urgent repairs to the track.
Will be formed of 5 coaches instead of 8.

and for those who wanted to go beyond Oxford on the 18:22...

Quote
19:22 London Paddington to Hereford due 22:52 will be started from Reading.
It will no longer call at London Paddington and Slough.
It will be delayed at Reading and is expected to be 25 minutes late.

338  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: September 13, 2018, 20:36:03
Things are certainly getting better. However:

Quote
17:52 London Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill due 20:06 has been cancelled.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

and

Quote
20:59 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 23:36 will be cancelled.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

The wording of the 17:52 and timing - "Last Updated:13/09/2018 18:11" - suggests it was a late cancellation.
339  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: September 05, 2018, 15:34:28
Just turned up on JourneyCheck ten minutes after service was due to depart:

Quote
15:22 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington due 17:28 has been cancelled.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

340  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: September 03, 2018, 18:49:06
Pretty much a cancellation:

Quote
18:29 Great Malvern to London Paddington due 21:05 will be terminated at Worcester Shrub Hill.

It will no longer call at Pershore, Evesham, Honeybourne, Moreton-in-Marsh, Kingham, Charlbury, Hanborough, Oxford, Reading, Slough and London Paddington.
This is due to train crew being delayed.

341  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: September 03, 2018, 08:14:08
Although, as has been mentioned, the service seems to be getting better, over the last couple of weeks, more cancellations and amendments have been appearing in the morning peak service towards London. Today's example being:

Quote
04:47 Hereford to London Paddington due 07:52 will no longer call at Pershore, Kingham and Hanborough.
It has been delayed at Hereford and is now 18 minutes late.
This is due to a fault on this train.

From experience of previous years, it's as we get into October, and poor rail conditions start to become an issue, that the service starts to deteriorate significantly.
342  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: August 31, 2018, 18:52:31
This one is an IET (Intercity Express Train) (and going to be cosy for a Friday as far as it goes):

Quote
17:22 London Paddington to Hereford due 20:26 will be terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh, Honeybourne, Evesham, Pershore, Worcester Shrub Hill, Worcester Foregate Street, Malvern Link, Great Malvern, Colwall, Ledbury and Hereford but will call additionally at Didcot Parkway.
It is being delayed at London Paddington.
This is due to a fault on this train.
Will be formed of 9 coaches instead of 5.
343  Journey by Journey / London to Didcot, Oxford and Banbury / Re: Oxford Area Resignalling 2018 on: August 31, 2018, 18:00:48
Passengers on the 15:22 Paddington to Great Malvern got to experience the benefits of the resignalling this afternoon.

As a result of a fault at the north end of Oxford station, the 15:22 was diverted onto platform 3, and then ran down to Wolvercote Junction on the up main (or whatever the correct terminology is!). Meanwhile, the 15:22 WOS» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains):PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) ran towards Oxford on the up relief.

However, putting the Great Malvern train onto platform 3 at roughly the time the Paddington service was due did have an unfortunate but predictable consequence - there was an announcement on the 15:22 PAD:GMV advising passengers who thought they were on the Paddington train to change at Hanborough!

[edit to change one word]
344  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: August 31, 2018, 08:19:46
A couple this morning:

Quote
06:52 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 09:37 will be terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh, Honeybourne, Evesham, Pershore, Worcester Shrub Hill, Worcester Foregate Street, Malvern Link and Great Malvern.
This is due to a fault on this train.

Last Updated:31/08/2018 08:04

and the return

Quote
09:54 Great Malvern to London Paddington due 12:28 will be cancelled.
This is due to a fault on this train.

edit to change return from starting from Oxford to full cancellation.
