Cancellations to services between Worcester Shrub Hill and Oxford
Due to a road vehicle colliding with a bridge between Worcester Shrub Hill and Oxford all lines are blocked.
Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 19:00 31/07. and amongst the alterations an odd looking one: 16:22 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 19:24 will be diverted between Oxford and Worcester Shrub Hill and terminated at Worcester Shrub Hill.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Combe, Finstock, Charlbury, Ascott-under-Wychwood, Shipton, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh, Honeybourne, Evesham, Pershore, Worcester Foregate Street, Malvern Link and Great Malvern but will call additionally at Cheltenham Spa. it's strange for such diversions to actually take in Oxford. update - seems it's quite serious: Cancellations to services between Worcester Shrub Hill and Oxford

Customer Advice
Network Rail advise the line is likely to be closed until the end of the day due to the structrual damage sustained to the bridge which poses a danger to the safe running of the railway.
GWR▸ services will be diverted between Reading and Worcester Shrub Hill calling at Cheltenham Spa. Services are likely to terminate or start back at Worcester Shrub Hull (sic). |

17:22 London Paddington to Hereford due 20:26 will be terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh, Honeybourne, Evesham, Pershore, Worcester Shrub Hill, Worcester Foregate Street, Malvern Link, Great Malvern, Colwall, Ledbury and Hereford.
This is due to a problem currently under investigation. And the 17:52 Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill and 18:22 Paddington to Hereford both appear to have been delayed to soe degree beyond Oxford. |

I know freshly laid track and hot temperatures are not a good mix, but there is a certain predictability about this one: 15:50 London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh due 17:26 was terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham and Moreton-in-Marsh.
This is due to a speed restriction because of high track temperatures.

How it seems to be working at Hanborough is that buses turn up from Oxford, Oxford Parkway & Didcot Parkway at about twenty past the hour to decant passengers for the Worcester/Hereford bound service at half past the hour, and to carry forward passengers from the service that terminates at about quarter past the hour. So around now, three buses have arrived at Hanborough to fit in with the 12:59 WOS» :HND and 14:30 HND:WOS... 12:59 Worcester Shrub Hill to Hanborough due 14:15 will be cancelled.
This is due to this train being late from the depot.
14:30 Hanborough to Worcester Shrub Hill due 15:32 will be cancelled.

By amazing co-incidence, my season ticket expired on 6 July so I'm driving to my local Park & Ride and enjoying the walk in. Certainly quicker and more efficient than the bus replacement but it won't replace the trains once they're back. Meanwhile, on the Cotswold Line: 17:26 Worcester Foregate Street to Hanborough due 18:50 will be cancelled.
This is due to a fault on this train. and: 19:34 Hanborough to Hereford due 21:32 will be cancelled.
This is due to a fault on this train. as well as a couple of inconveniences: Facilities on the 17:50 Hanborough to Great Malvern due 19:22.
Toilet facilities are not available.

And now it's the turn of the 17:22 to get speeded up by not stopping: 17:22 London Paddington to Hereford due 20:26 will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh and Honeybourne.
It is being delayed between Reading and Oxford and is now expected to be 20 minutes late.
This is due to congestion.

It's not unusual for this service to be running late - it's been at least ten minutes (and often much more) through Wolvercote Junction on eight of the last nine days - so it's odd that GWR▸ has decided to cut out stops today. Were there other delays elsewhere on the line that made this a sensible option, or is this a new tool GWR has decided to use to manage its performance figures? (It's a service I pay attention to as it's the one my partner used to take before she decided driving to and from Reading was a more reliable and flexible option than using GWR trains). |

And now it's a different sort of part cancellation! 14:21 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 16:44 will no longer call at Slough, Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Honeybourne and Pershore.
It has been delayed at London Paddington and is now 40 minutes late.
This is due to this train being late from the depot.

Part cancellations (for that is what they are) are probably amendments as far as the whole journey goes. unless you have a part-cancellation option.....
Anyway, it's no longer a part cancellation! 13:55 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 16:31 has been cancelled.
This is due to a fault on this train. and as I type at 15:00, the 14:21 Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street is still sitting at Paddington "due to this train being late from the depot."... and as I finish typing at 15:02 it has just departed! |

This is due to a late departure while the train was cleaned specially.

It's another poor day today: 16:22 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 19:24 was terminated at Oxford.

[even later edit] - the 17:22 was 37 late through Wolvercote Junction and lost more time on the remainder of its journey. A very late home time for those on the 16:22 travelling beyond Oxford. |

Being a bit of an anorak, I find myself keeping an eye on the services coming on and off the Cotswold Line at Wolvercote Junction around 2 - 2.30pm, as delays then can have knock on effects that disrupt the early evening peak from Oxford when I'm wanting to get home.
I have noticed that the 12:09 Hereford to Paddington seems to be late through Worcester almost every day. It does have a ten minute contingency at Moreton-in-Marsh but even that seems to be insufficient at times. As far as I can tell, it was at least ten minutes late at Evesham every day in June (and was again yesterday).
I'm a little curious as to why this delay seems to be the norm. Any ideas?
