421  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: April 27, 2018, 10:59:35
And now the expected:

Quote
15:52 London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh due 17:26 will be cancelled.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

15:52 London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh due 17:26 will be cancelled.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

Although it's a full cancellation rather than just a termination at Oxford.
422  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: April 27, 2018, 08:11:45
A pair of regular favourites:

Quote
05:47 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 08:15 will be cancelled.
This is due to a fault on this train.

08:25 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 10:57 will be cancelled.
This is due to a fault on this train.

And the possibility/probability of the 15:52 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains):MIM not going beyond Oxford this afternoon still to come (and it was very very cosy on yesterday's 15:22 PAD:GMV 2 coach Turbo).
423  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: April 26, 2018, 13:59:27
Hopefully no problems with the 15:52 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains):MIM today as the 15:22 PAD:GMV is going to be a snug two coach Turbo today.

And here's the update on the 15:52 Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh service.

Quote
It's going to terminate at Oxford all this week. We will try and source an IET (Intercity Express Train) set next week, not possible at the moment because of Newbury works

Further update, and good news:

Quote
The 1650 Oxford to Moreton In Marsh will operate today and tomorrow due to extra staff onboard the train so they won't have to reserve the train... [but] on Friday it will not operate between Oxford and MIM.

Perhaps one reason the cancellations aren't announced until the last minute might be because GWR (Great Western Railway) are trying to actively manage this which is to be appreciated.

Presumably the cancellations will be drip fed at the last minute on a daily basis.

This means, as far as Cotswold Line running is concerned, this is now the most cancelled service for 2018 overtaking the 16:22 Paddington to Great Malvern (with the 08:25 Worcester Foregate Street to Paddington close behind!).
426  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: April 25, 2018, 08:41:17
Another "regular" this morning:

Quote
05:47 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 08:15 will be terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh, Honeybourne, Evesham, Pershore, Worcester Shrub Hill and Worcester Foregate Street.
This is due to this train being late from the depot.

08:25 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 10:57 will be started from Oxford.
It will no longer call at Worcester Foregate Street, Worcester Shrub Hill, Pershore, Evesham, Honeybourne, Moreton-in-Marsh, Kingham, Charlbury and Hanborough.
This is due to this train being late from the depot.

And I'm waiting for GWR (Great Western Railway)'s social media team to give me the heads up on today's 15:52 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains):MIM
427  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: April 24, 2018, 09:32:52
Today's 15:52 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains):MIM update from GWR (Great Western Railway)'s social media team:

Quote
it is likely it won't run [beyond Oxford] but it depends on what crew are available closer to the time.

So expect the cancellation beyond Oxford to be announced sometime after 3pm.
428  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: April 23, 2018, 20:53:26
The peak evening service onto the north Cotswold Line over the past few days has been especially ropy. Taking the 15:22 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains):GMV, 15:52 PAD:MIM, 16:22 PAD:GMV, 17:22 PAD:HFD» (Hereford - next trains), 17:52 PAD:WOS» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains), 18:22 PAD:HFD and 19:22 PAD:HFD, over the last four weekdays just five out of twenty eight services have gone onto the Cotswold Line at Wolvercote Junction* within ten minutes of their scheduled time.

* no doubt timings will vary depending on where the "snapshot" is taken - Wolvercote Junction was my choice as the start of the Cotswold Line
429  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: April 23, 2018, 18:12:24
Not confirmed yet but the 15:52 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains):MIM is booked as an HST (High Speed Train) today and, according to GWR (Great Western Railway)'s social media team, "it's likely that this won't go beyond Oxford today".

Confirmed now.........

15:52 London Paddington to Moreton-In-Marsh due 17:26

15:52 London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh due 17:26 will be terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham and Moreton-in-Marsh.
This is due to a safety inspection of the track.

Cancellation wasn't confirmed until 1608 which is a pretty poor show considering it was inevitable once the HST had been booked. It was, however, 21 minutes late leaving Paddington - late arrival of inbound service due to problems at Swindon? - so chances are it would have been terminated at Oxford anyway.

431  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: April 23, 2018, 08:22:45
After the usual weekend cancellations (on how many Saturdays recently has the 0843 GMV:PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) actually been operated?), back to the working week:

Quote
05:47 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 08:15 was terminated at Reading.
This is due to a fault on this train.

08:25 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 10:57 will be cancelled.

432  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: April 20, 2018, 17:37:49
And rather incredibly the 15:52 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains):MIM has gone beyond Oxford again today, despite being 23 minutes late and then being delayed a further 11 minutes until the 15:14 Hereford to Paddington had cleared the single track. Probably just as well as the 16:22 Paddington to Great Malvern is currently running 29 minutes late (and being terminated at Worcester Shrub Hill) and the  17:22 PAD:HFD» (Hereford - next trains) has just left Paddington 13 minutes late.
433  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: April 19, 2018, 18:04:28
Despite speed restrictions in the Didcot area due to the heat, the 15:52 Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh seems to have made it down the Cotswold Line for the first time in over a week. It left Oxford 16 late - a delay that is often enough to see it terminated at Oxford - and arrived at MIM 21 late.
434  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Infrastructure problems in Thames Valley causing disruption elsewhere - ongoing, since Oct 2014 on: April 19, 2018, 13:45:58
Disruption between Didcot and Oxford now expected until 14:30 but seems to be extended by an hour every hour.

The problems between Reading and Didcot are back:

Quote
Cancellations to services between Reading and Didcot Parkway

Due to a fault with the signalling system between Reading and Didcot Parkway:

Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 15:00 19/04.

And now, because it's a warm day:

Quote
Delays to services between Slough and London Paddington

Due to a speed restriction because of high track temperatures between Slough and London Paddington trains have to run at reduced speed on some lines towards London Paddington.

Train services running to and from these stations may be delayed by up to 15 minutes. Disruption is expected until 18:30 19/04.
435  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Infrastructure problems in Thames Valley causing disruption elsewhere - ongoing, since Oct 2014 on: April 19, 2018, 10:20:31
Due to a fault with the signalling system between Reading and Didcot Parkway fewer trains are able to run on the line towards Didcot Parkway.
Impact:
Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 11:00 19/04.

Disruption now expected until 13:00
