1  Journey by Journey / London to Swindon and Bristol / 14/02 19.48 London Paddington - Worcester Shrub Hill on: February 14, 2013, 21:17:01
I just passed through Reading to see the 19.48 Paddington - Worcester in Platfom 7.

The FGW (First Great Western) website says it was terminated at Reading due to 'disruptive passengers'. Can anyone expand?
2  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line redoubling: 2008 - 2011 on: August 23, 2011, 23:37:37
I'm not that familiar with the timetables for that line, can anyone say what the high/low lights are?

(Alternatively, I could get the two timetables side by side and do it that way Smiley)
3  Journey by Journey / Bristol (WECA) Commuters / 0812 Bristol Parkway - Taunton on: June 25, 2011, 21:55:50
I may well be using this service in the coming days. What are the loadings like? Will I get a seat? Thanks
4  Journey by Journey / North Downs Line / Re: Wokingham - Pick Up/Set Down Only - 7th May? on: May 06, 2011, 11:15:45
The printed timetable on posters suggests that the pick up / set down restriction at Wokingham for North Downs Line trains on Saturday is to avoid overcrowding.  Passengers from Reading to Wokingham and vice versa are to travel by bus.  Waterloo trains operate east of Wokingham only.

Traveline North East shows platform 6 for all North Downs Line trains on Saturday and retimings for pathing reasons.

Jonathan

So if I boarded the train, would I be liable for a new ticket from Blackwater or Crowthorne to Reading?

Can restrictions be introduced for a weekend only?
5  Journey by Journey / North Downs Line / Wokingham - Pick Up/Set Down Only - 7th May? on: May 05, 2011, 21:33:06
I'm trying to get the NR» (Network Rail - home page) iPhone application to give me times from Wokingham to Reading for this Saturday (7th May). It insists on putting me on a replacement bus. But, journeys from North Camp to Reading are coming up. I know SWT (South West Trains) aren't running past Wokingham but it seems FGW (First Great Western) are. The FGW trains seem to be platformed into platform 6 at Reading as 4a/b are out of use for works.

Thoughts?
6  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: May - December 2011 FGW timetables available online. on: April 22, 2011, 22:00:15
Network Rail now have almost all of the GB (Great Britain) National Timetable at
http://www.networkrail.co.uk/aspx/12546.aspx/

That link will work now!

It gets better now, in TT 148 there is a 0524 Reading - Gatwick Airport and a 0534 Reading - Gatwick Airport service. Hmm!?!?!
7  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: May - December 2011 FGW timetables available online. on: April 15, 2011, 07:15:56
Any ideas why the M-F 0534 Reading - Gatwick Airport has been retimed to 0524. Seems a bit random to me.
8  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Rail Replacement Services on: March 14, 2011, 15:28:00
I may be using the evening rail replacement service from Worcester Foregate Street to Moreton In Marsh later this week. What sort of replacement service is laid on, bus? double decker bus? coach? Also what are the loadings like for this service?

Thanks for any answers that can be given
9  Journey by Journey / North Downs Line / TSR Between Winnersh and Wokingham on: December 22, 2010, 19:52:46
I've noticed this has been here for about a week now, trains seem to slow to a snails pace. Any idea what the problem is?
10  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: 0706 London-Paignton Service Launched on: December 22, 2010, 19:49:07
Has anyone travelled on this service? What are the loadings like? Has it taken much away from the 07.30 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains)-PNZ?
11  Journey by Journey / North Downs Line / Re: 06.06 Shalford on: December 22, 2010, 19:48:02
I thought the set to form it arrived in the 04.00-05.30 time from London Paddington as an overnight stopper. It always use to leave from Platform 6, I presume there is no service on a Sunday night/Monday morning for this to happen?
12  Journey by Journey / North Downs Line / Re: 5O52 "let's clear off to Wokingham for half an hour" on: December 22, 2010, 19:45:50
I 'thought' it didn't go into the sidings, but stayed on the line towards Crowthorne then just after the signalbox stopped and then headed back via a crossover.
13  Journey by Journey / London to South Wales / London Paddington - Swansea Friday 29th October on: October 30, 2010, 18:13:08
I was looking at the Paddington to Swansea services last night on my iPhone. I noticed even at Midnight a few were 'lost'. I believe them to be the last 3 services to Swansea. I then woke up in the early hours and saw that they were due in at 4am ish. I think! including one that was about 3 hours late

Did my memory serve me right that they were running very late?
14  Journey by Journey / North Downs Line / 04.34 Reading - Gatwick Airport (30/08/10) on: August 30, 2010, 21:53:21
The 04.34 Reading - Gatwick also forms the 05.56 Gatwick - Reading. The latter train left Gatwick 25 minutes late and missed North Camp, Blackwater and Wokingham. The FGW (First Great Western) website said this was due to a 'unusually large passenger flow'. I'm guessing this was for the 04.34 Reading - Gatwick service that was delayed. I know the Reading festival ended today, but did all hell really break loose at 4.30am this morning? To delay the Gatwick service???
15  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Turbo refresh started. on: April 26, 2010, 22:33:34
Not sure which turbo it was, but there was a refurbished set on the 07.04 Reading - Redhill and the 1744 Redhill - Reading today (Monday 26th April)

Not sure if any mechanical work was included but it spent 10 minutes at Blackwater station due to door problems.
