One other advantage is that in modelling and designing this it may have made it easier for such things in future, perhaps also reducing costs.

Table 124 The headings S and E refer to Sprinter and Express services.
Class 155's ran the Cardiff Portsmouths from May 1988 until mechanical problems with the doors led to their temporary replacement by Cl 156s. The 155s returned and worked until converted to 153s and 158s took over the Portsmouth line.

While there were a couple of Cl155 on the Weymouth line in 1988 they did not last long. generally services continued to be the duty of old DMUs (Diesel Multiple Unit) until May 1989 when Class 150/2s took over, with some if the returned Cl 155s working from June 1989 along with the 150/2s.

Table 124 probably dates to Summer 1989 when the Cl 150s were introduced to the Weymouth line.

I still have my log books for this time!

Our daily walk takes us into the nearby footpaths,  fields and along part of the old Bridport branch, though the latter is rather popular with other walkers and cyclists.
It has been one of the benefits of the current situation that we have time to observe the way the season develops; the sequence of plants flowering.
The highlights have been seeing deer at close range, around 100m, a fox slinking through the field and the noise of the bird song, no longer having to compete with the traffic.

Living in Crewkerne in the 1950s and early 60s we used the Lyme branch most years as we stayed in family friend’s chalet.
I can also remember the gate set on the Yeovil Town branch.

However, I missed out on the rest of the SR(resolve) branches, apart from Plymouth via Okehampton, because we decided to travel further afield.

Is the right hand picture of the notorious bridge on the Newquay branch, where it passed over the old A30, before the Roche bypass was built?

There is also the Moors Valley Railway

http://www.moorsvalleyrailway.co.uk/pages/track-layout not far from the old line. This was known as Castleman's Corkscrew for its indirect route through this area on its way to Dorchester.

I was studying ecology at Durham with Dave Bellamy as my tutor. We were on a field course in the Highlands. On our return I managed to persuade the rest to drop me off at Inverness station so I could travel the Highland main line to Perth, where I was picked up again.

Dorchester South was rebuilt for the electric service to start around 1987/8.  The new station up platform was built on the curve. The old station was sold to Eldridge Pope’s brewery but has subsequently been demolished during the Brewery development.

The Puffin crossings have the crossing lights on your side of the road. They are placed On the right hand side of the crossing so that generally you can see the oncoming traffic at the same time.

We have a set in the town centre and the timing drives you crazy. If you miss the green man you can wait some time for it to come around again.

We locals know the sequence of the main lights and cross accordingly, quite safely.

The Pelican crossings have the pedestrian lights on the opposite side of the road.

Is it related to the light engine move that followed the special south 45 minutes later?
