It does state 1tph extended to penzance, There almost certainly isnt capacity between st erth and penzance to have 28 tpd plus mainline services
I've had a look through both the Invitation To Tender and the Train Service Reruirement documents and can't find anywhere saying only one train per hour in either and the main document refers to extending all 28 trains.  It also wouldn't be impossible to path the additional services (off peak there is only 1 tph from Penzance to Plymouth), running time St Erth to Penzance is only ten minutes.

but the ITT (Invitation to Tender) also mentions half hourly services between Pz and plymouth, this plus half hourly st ives services would mean a train every 15 mins, dont think signalling will allow this without major upgrades

so one unit will spend half an hour every hour sat around at St Erth? The through to penzance is specified as only 1tph.
The priced options are for the extension of the 28 trains per day to Penzance on Mondays to Saturdays either Summer only or all year.  It doesn't say anything about only running half of these to Penzance.

apologies for the double post.

St Ives services extended to penzance, will this mean a reduction of frequency on the branch, or extra rolling stock?
2615  Journey by Journey / Heart of Wessex / Re: Additional Trains to Weymouth during the Olympic Weeks on: July 29, 2012, 09:50:55
SWT (South West Trains) have got round the juice problem by  using additional 158/159 into Weymouth, I've read on other forums, but havent found any thing from SWT showing they are doing this. They have hired an additional unit in from EMT» (East Midlands Trains - about). Although rumours elsewhere suggest swt drivers are refusing to drive it, due to lack of a locking door behind the cab. These same rumours suggest it will now be sub hired for the daily FGW (First Great Western) hire from SWT.

Pad - Penzance - it seems the rumours last week were right, requirement is 6 trains per day plus sleeper

page 119 suggests that there could be an option for a new minimum of 9 pad- penz a day going forward. yet it also mentions being a waste of first class and buffet accomodation for the number of people making local journeys through cornwall. http://assets.dft.gov.uk/publications/rail-passenger-franchise-great-western/invitation-to-tender.pdf#page=119

I very much enjoyed the ceremony. I'm not so sure the Queen did, she could have at least smiled at some point!

Westcountry news had a breaking report at the end of the 6 o'clock news that bristol parkway has been evacuated due to a security alert. They had no further info, but the news feed at the top here is looking rather full with lines around bristol

2621  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: FirstGroup Sells North Devon Bus Operations To Stagecoach For GBP2.8M on: July 12, 2012, 18:50:36
The Truronian options between Truro and Falmouth and Falmouth and Helston were never competitive with Firsts, they were slower and less frequent. First ran the routes via the main roads and Truronian the more round the houses option.

First between Truro and Falmouth definitely didnt use the main road, the x90 which was a 2 hourly Falmouth-Newquay via Truro did, but the 88 went Falmouth - penryn - ponsanooth - perranwell - carnon downs - truro, with a end to end jouney time of 75 mins, truronian used Falmouth - penryn - mylor - devoran - truro with a end to end time of 60 mins!
2622  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: FirstGroup Sells North Devon Bus Operations To Stagecoach For GBP2.8M on: July 11, 2012, 17:28:18
they allowed first d+c to take over truronian which to me is more detrimental to customers than this merger would be. so cant see a problem with it.
FDC are Truronian were never really in direct competition though, at the tendering stage, yes, but they never ran buses on the same routes, unlike in North Devon where the two are. Merging the two would leave North Devon with just Stagecoach as well, Cornwall still had Western Greyhound left to compete with FDC at the tendering stage.

Although western greyhound never preciously ventured west of Truro/ Newquay, FDC and Truronian were in direct competition between Truro and Falmouth, Falmouth and Helston to name 2 routes i used both on regularly, they used different routes and villages but the start and end of routes were the same with similar journey times,

Southern Stag, why would a PA (Public Address) fault require a service to be terminated, i have been on numerous services where it is at fault and is not audible, or is just crackles.
