Oh dear, we have another, and the posts get more ludicrous each time!
2672  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: Interesting HST Combo today on: April 11, 2012, 23:04:49
I thought the max speed was that allowed by the slowest vehicle in the formation.  I assumed 2 x Powercars running on their own are restricted to 75mph?

This is my belief as well.

could you link to it?
2674  Sideshoots - associated subjects / News, Help and Assistance / Re: Suggestion for validating staff members of this forum on: April 09, 2012, 17:59:58
With regards to Ollies signature, if i make any mention to anything related to my sector of work, it is a requirement of my company i state that it is my opinion and not that of my company. This is stated clearly in the social networking policy contracts we have to agree to
2675  Sideshoots - associated subjects / News, Help and Assistance / Suggestion for validating staff members of this forum on: April 08, 2012, 20:44:28
I can only agree, something between name and avatar to show who is verified to be a genuine staff member. I think i've seen 3 people pretending to be staff in the last week now!

I may be in Penzance Saturday night, I will take a look to see if stock is in the depot, if you dont get the answer before then.
2677  Sideshoots - associated subjects / News, Help and Assistance / Re: Some Site Statistics on: April 03, 2012, 22:34:05
The location stats will be skewed at the moment, as all bt broadband users in devon and cornwall currently report as bristol due to technical issues. This problem is unique to BT users only
2678  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Train operators prepare for tanker driver strike on: March 31, 2012, 18:11:33
It was never going to be over easter anyway, the tanker drivers are clever enough to know they get massive bonuses for working easter weekend, I've heard figures as high as ^400 a day is bank holiday pay rate for tanker drivers!
2679  All across the Great Western territory / Looking forward - after Coronavirus to 2045 / Re: Potential bidders for the next Greater Western franchise on: March 30, 2012, 20:42:14
I'm still a little uneasy with First Group's decision to walk away early from FGW (First Great Western) to save money. Yes I know they were perfectly entitled to do so, but I still don't like that. Shareholders first, government second, passengers last.

I'm also a bit cynical about all the recent improvements that FGW have brought in and crowed about. That just seems like a charm offensive. Many of the recent improvements could've been delivered earlier in the current franchise and doing them now seem like a distraction technique designed to gloss over the problems in the past.

So. New broom please.

On the other hand a director of a business is legally required to ensure share holders get the best return on their investment.
2680  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Station usage figures published today on: March 29, 2012, 19:23:29
where is Sampford Courtenay?
2681  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Station usage figures published today on: March 29, 2012, 19:06:56
On the St Ives branch I think all tickets used to be sold as rangers so intermediate stations were not counted.

but St ives has increased by 100000 and st erth 50000 as well so that suggests the terminal stations were not counted neither!
2682  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Station usage figures published today on: March 29, 2012, 18:44:57
almost 100000 increase combined for all the Falmouth branch stations excluding Truro. The loop at Penryn is definitely showing it was money well spent.
2683  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Station usage figures published today on: March 29, 2012, 17:58:10
Any reasons for the ridiculously large increases on the St Ives line?
2684  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Train operators prepare for tanker driver strike on: March 29, 2012, 16:55:20
Although off topic but connected, People need to stop panic buying because Unite have said:
Quote
No strike dates have been set, and Unite would give seven days' notice before any action

If you are are conducting 2 simultaneous txt conversations on phones I would suspect neither are work related, 2 separate SIM cards for other uses?
.
Hope your not suggesting 1 phone for wife, and another for the ladies! Wink
