If this is the case, it's absolutely scandalous!! It was a mild morning this morning, (12c when I left the house at 07:00) refusing to move the unit due to "no heater" is utterly unbelievable. It's not like the driver was being asked to do a whole turn without heating.

I hope FGW (First Great Western) management are as mad as I am about this!!!

I'm sure most people would be pretty cheesed off if they had to work in an office that was 12'c.

There is apparently a minimum temperature for working, unless you are employed as an outside worker that covers the UK (United Kingdom), and from memory I was told it is around 16'C or 17'C

Was there a zoo nearby that may of reported a lost lion, otherwise we could of instantly discovered it a hoax. The most stupidest bit is they've  closed the case unless someone else reports a sighting. How many hoax's is that asking for!
2749  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: Follow up - M5 Crash 04/11/2011 on: November 08, 2011, 13:13:25
Off at a slight tangent and not sure if its been mentioned in the other thread. What's everyone's thoughts on the modern safety features on newer cars that may of helped to reduce the number of fatalities in this accident?

It was freezing this morning down here, we had quite a thick frost overnight!

I agree with comments regardign the M4 around south Wales, having used the M4 daily for 2 years until i moved back to Cornwall in 2009

Thoughts are with all those affected,

My brother drove where the accident was less than 30 mins before the accident returning back to Cornwall. He commented how the fog was so thick he couldnt see the front of his car, and people were still driving at ridiculous speed.

regarding above commenter whether the speed limit is 70 or 80 i believe is irrelevant here, as in such weather conditions common sense is required that it is unsafe to do even 70!
2753  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: 50% off replaced by 33% off at National Express, with card on: November 02, 2011, 11:15:12
off topic but relating to the "well Driven" slogan on the back of grahame's picture, do national express use one of them expensive premium numbers?
Read a lot of companys are buying the ^1 a minute phone numbers, then getting their drivers to drive in a inconsiderate manner to get lots of calls, making them about 60p a minute profit on these calls!
2754  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture - related rail and other transport issues / Re: Passengers told to sit on floor. on: October 30, 2011, 13:14:45
The tilt system is automatically disabled when the train is overloaded above a certain level I believe.

My understanding it was a weight limit that disables the tilt

2757  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: Various 'open-top bus conversion' incidents, usually involving railway bridges on: October 27, 2011, 21:29:02
It was actually V registration - V124LGC if my memory serves me correctly.
It first entered service in 1999 with Go-Ahead London and has recently been replaced by newer vehicles.

Yes thats right, i had it recorded as S124LGC, but it is V124LGC
2758  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: Various 'open-top bus conversion' incidents, usually involving railway bridges on: October 25, 2011, 16:00:31
The irony being that First do not actually own this bus.
It was on loan from Volvo to cover for warranty work on the existing Volvo's!

Surprised they use such an old vehicle as a loan vehicle! the bus involved was 1 1998 S registration!
2759  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Penryn Truro Season Ticket on: October 24, 2011, 17:08:10
Definitely good prices down here, ^45 to travel a 10-12 mile journey for 5 weeks is incredible value, especially when you factor in ^4-5 a day for all day car parking in truro! Within 7-8 days of travel you'll be cheaper than petrol and parking. Free car parking at Penryn station as well. Makes good sense as a park and ride for people of Falmouth, just a shame theres only about 10 spaces at Penryn Station!
2760  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Not just the person but the things that go with them on: October 24, 2011, 12:42:26
That is quite surprising, 100 years ago or so they had seperate male/ female carriages, so would of been easier back then. How do they record such stats then, is it a simple survey at ticket purchase!
