3091  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Network Rail asks Truro ^Would it kill you to wait?' on: June 09, 2010, 23:23:59
Thats the crossing, it is half barriered but there been issues with foreign people + tracotors and trailors turning into Riviera (?) Produce right next to the crossing. The 15mph has been there a fair while now, I do hope it is temporary though as mentioned above. But I did here someone say it was staying until CCTV (Closed Circuit Tele Vision) was fitted???
yes i now where riviera produce is, so are these foreign people not being clear of crossing in time or not bothered using the phone for slow moving vehicles?
3092  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Network Rail asks Truro ^Would it kill you to wait?' on: June 09, 2010, 21:46:27
Gwinear Road Crossing has a 15mph restriction on it now, after some near misses with Polish farm workers...
isnt gwinear road crossing barriered? i think the "polish" your referring too could be the lithuanians, as there are about 40 lithuanians working on the farms around here at the moment, (i live about 1/2 mile from the old gwinear crossing if i'm thinking about the right crossing!). the one on the road between carnhell green and connor downs?

(more likely to be one of the Open Crossings on the Newquay branch).  I do however, and always have, supported the NR» (Network Rail - home page) campaign.
where there has been numerous previous incidents!!!!
3094  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Freight train derailment on Par - Newquay branch line on: June 09, 2010, 17:33:47

3096  Journey by Journey / Heart of Wessex / Re: Last Weymouth loco Hauled on: June 08, 2010, 23:30:16
any one know what is being used, on another forum i'm registered (a ferries forum) a thread has turned to discussion about loco hauled routes, i commented about the weymouth saturday services and a reply was that it is being operated this year by a shortened 4 or 5 carriage HST (High Speed Train), anyone know if this is true?

Looked like Sunbury to me - but then I've never been by train there - but I have been there - never been to Westbury at all hence I assumed sunbury

so if aint photoshopped how is the most meaningfull clue so blurred

(note - I put my nice expensive camera onto auto to shoot everything - I'm crap at photography)

I'm on my iPhone at moment and zooming in function makes the sign name easily read as westbury!

Yet Menheniot - Liskeard does have a FC(resolve) Fare available for a journey that is even shorter than Frome - Westbury
and how many HSTs (High Speed Train) stop at menheniot? thought it was mainly 150/153s that stop there?

leave plenty of time for your wetherspoons breakfst, pz wetherspoons is never very fast at serving any kind of food from personal experience, i was there on thursday night for curry night which was served painfully slow, i've emailed there management and even there head office to raise concern about the slow service and even once they decided to tell me 45 mins after ordering that they didnt have what i ordered when they told me that the food would be 20-30 mins ready, i have never received a reply from the company which i find quite appalling for such a large national company, even an automated reply/ mail merged standard reply would of done just so i was ackknowledged for my concerns of there running but oh well

and to clarify "up" is always towards London, even where the geography makes it feel intuitively wrong (not a problem in this part of the world, but maybe more so if you live anywhere north of London).
Just to throw a spanner into the works, how would this work if it is possible to go either way to reach London?  Huh

I'm thinking of the West Coastway Line between Southampton and Havant.  If you head towards Southampton, you can go on the South Western Main Line to London.  Towards Havant and you can use the Portsmouth District Line.  Grin Cheesy

see reply 33 above RE (Religious Education) exeter SD as the waterloo trains go one way and paddingtn trains the other way

Expect a 4 car rake, probably 2x150/2  Sit on the right side of train.  Deps at XX11 and XX41.  Fare ^4 for a Day Rover ^3 for a single.  There is a cafe at St Erth station and also a couple of pub style bench/tables outside.
definitely sit on the right side of the train, get an amazing scenic views all along the line from that side

Where is 117305? did it get scrapped? For those of you wondering, 117305 was the chocolate and cream DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) that ran around in whats now the FGW (First Great Western) area until 1997, does anybody know it's fate??

sorry bringing up a old topic, reading through old posts as new to here and wanted to read about various things, sadly 117305 was scrapped, here is a small bit from google about 117305.  http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.hondawanderer.com/117305_Portway_1993_thumb.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.hondawanderer.com/Class_117_2.htm&usg=__okzr35WG4O3NjFHrBbYPtYRLHFg=&h=125&w=180&sz=8&hl=en&start=2&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=b7PwZzorvrcaSM:&tbnh=70&tbnw=101&prev=/images%3Fq%3D117305%2Btrain%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26tbs%3Disch:1
