16  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Delay / Repay - discussion on cancellations on: July 28, 2023, 13:14:40
This is a bit of a highjack post and may not be the right place to ask it, but it is relevant to the large number of cancellations currently experienced in the Thames Valley…

(How) Does Delay Repay work if I arrive at my departure station and find so many cancellations that I just turn around and go home? I wont have swiped in and so there is no record of my attempt to travel, but the cancellations will have changed my plans and I have been unable to travel.

Thanks

Lol - I can claim no personal responsibility but I am very pleased with the outcome.

It does go to show that sometimes there is actually some leeway to be found when organisations like Network Rail and GWR (Great Western Railway) say that something ‘simply can’t be done’.

I think that’s a good plan.

1hr 40mins to get from paddington to Maidenhead last night.

Arrived at paddington 17.10
17.20 cancelled at last minute
Waited for 17.50
Platform for 17.50 dangerously overcrowded
17.50 turns engine and lights off. No announcement made about intention to run.
Transfer to Elizabeth Line to catch 18.00
18.00 runs slightly late, arriving at Maidenhead 18.50

I can’t wait to go back tomorrow.

Maidenhead Advertiser are reporting the reintroduction of the 07.16 fast (via Slough) to paddington

I’m very much with sanfrandragon on this topic - the current timetable (especially with the 07.07 that has never run) is a significant deterioration in service for Maidenhead since the introduction of the Elizabeth Line and I’ve written to our MP (Member of Parliament) to state the same.

We used to have a direct non-stop service every 10mins (average) from 06.30 until 08.00 and now we have shorter services once every half hour.

Taking the 07.33 as an example - that was full and standing upon arrival at Maidenhead yesterday.

Depending upon how you view things it is either very unlucky or extraordinarily ambitious to be hit by a train during a scheduled rail strike.

Just relating verbatim from gwr staff at Maidenhead.
That’s my Saturday night out cancelled before it got started.

Today’s gwr strike is now compounded by a suicide that has closed the Elizabeth Line.

Yes indeed!

The emojis available don’t do justice to my joy! Cheesy

The sun has appeared and so there is a points failure in LTV (London [and] Thames Valley). Disruption expected until 16.00 but I’ll be equally delighted and surprised if it is fixed by rush hour.

Will tfl services (Crossrail) be impacted by the strike in the latter part of the week or should those services be running after the 21st?

Interesting.
“Delays due to a person hit by a train” was the narrative that GWR (Great Western Railway) Journeycheck were going with last night.

Delays tonight due to suicide on the way to Reading.
30  Journey by Journey / London to Reading / Re: Maidenhead station - car parking issues - ongoing discussion on: May 25, 2022, 19:21:46
Agreed - I’m not sure what the sudden burst of interest has been this week as the services from Maidenhead are exactly the same as they were pre-go live for the central section of Crossrail.

Time for me to ask GWR (Great Western Railway) why Silco Drive remains shut…

Ps. ALL of the additional disabled spaces at Maidenhead that I mentioned in this thread remain empty.
