A 20L bag-in-a-box of Cotswold Cider No-Brainer is currently helping me through self-isolation (I appear to have coronavirus, but very mild symptoms so far at least). When I say "currently", I don't mean right now at 12.30pm. That would be decadent.

Surely the symptoms of coronavirus and the after-effects of 20l of Cotswold Cider are pretty much identical?  Grin

Get well soon - I hope it stays mild (you're in good company now Boris has it too...)

I prefer a smoother tasting single malt and my favourite is Cragganmore of which I have 2 in stock of which 1 has been in stock for at least 8 years besides the 12 years ageing of this classic malt before purchasing.

I'm at the more aggressive end of the scale and tucking into a very pleasant Port Charlotte 10, with emergency reserves of Laphroaig, Lagavulin etc. If things get too serious, I'll consider opening the Octomore  Shocked

I have created a Virtual Pub...

I'm trying to work out what's in the bottle on the shelf to your right (or is it left, as the image is reversed?) Teaninich single malt?

I think that "everything has all gone to pot" at Brimpsfield Sad

"They don't know whether they are coming or going at Paddington."

Sorry, I couldn't resist folowing broadgage off topic into our favoured world of 70s TV drama  Wink

What route is she following to get to Bristol from Sweden by train? Is split ticketing available?

Yes. Split at Didcøt.

After a fair while, an update:

Plans to build a new railway line from Kemble to Cirencester look to be back on track.

Fundraising for a £53,000 feasibility study had stalled but Cotswold District Council will now invest £13,000 to make up the shortfall.

Now the plan, which has been four years in the making, can be put into motion with the aim of unlocking Government funding from a £500m pot designed to reopen lines closed in the 1960s following the Beeching Report.

Cllr Mark Harris, who, with Cllr Tony Berry, has been involved with the Cirencester Community Railway since its inception, proposed a motion for the funding to be granted at a meeting of the full Council last week which was duly passed.

Cllr Harris said: “Being able to carry out this feasibility study is the first step in bringing forward the line which will be of tremendous benefit for commuters and tourists alike.

“It will also be a very light railway which will have minimal impact on the environment and encourage people to stop using their cars for commuting, so helping our commitment to combating climate change.”

It is intended to build a single-track line with passing places which will follow the old route as far as possible before terminating near the centre of Cirencester.

The service will then link in with the recently dualled line between Swindon and Kemble which in turn connects to London Paddington.

It is hoped that the new line will also provide a template for others in the Cotswolds, including Tetbury and Bourton.

'A template for Tetbury' - interesting.

Perhaps the dog could read the sign about not obstructing the closing doors.

Dogs are naturally obedient.

Can you tell ours that!

Oh, you own a spaniel too then...?

57  Journey by Journey / Swindon to Gloucester / Cheltenham / Re: Stroud Valley timetable changes ... December 2019 on: December 13, 2019, 15:29:26
Chat over on RailForums suggests that only the following Golden Valley services will be 9-car or 2x5-car from Monday:

PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) - CNM» (Cheltenham Spa - next trains)   16.30, 17.28 and 18.30

CNM - PAD   05.53, 06.48 and 07.58

I'd imagine some of the other near-peak services are going to be quite cosy if they become 5-car sets.
58  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: December 2019 timetable recast on: December 11, 2019, 12:56:48
Thanks - I have seen TS but wondered if, as the Paddington poster suggests, there was also intended to be a Swindon-only version?
59  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: December 2019 timetable recast on: December 11, 2019, 11:59:51
Apologies if this has been asked/answered before, although I don't recall seeing it...

In the new timetable racks at PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains), timetable B6 is shown on the accompanying poster as 'London to Swindon', but there are never any B6 printed timetables there.

On the GWR (Great Western Railway) website, B6 is 'Bristol Temple Meads to Bristol Parkway'
https://www.gwr.com/plan-journey/train-times

I'm confused. Can anyone clarify? Is there an individual 'London to Swindon' printed timetable?
60  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Destination Board Fail on: November 25, 2019, 18:17:03
It's not unknown for a rogue external and internal display to show a previous train and destination to what the rest show.

It was definitely a single rogue display: it was still showing Penzance when I got off and I also noticed that the one at the other end of the same carriage was showing correctly.
