226  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Teignmouth Incident 13th September 2023 on: September 13, 2023, 14:30:49
My error.
1Z50 and 1Z51 are Cross Country trains -I misread them as being Network Rail trains.

Thoughts to all those involved at Teignmouth.
Disruption now expected until 1600.
227  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Teignmouth Incident 13th September 2023 on: September 13, 2023, 14:14:36
Interestingly -
1Z51 1327 Exeter St Davids to Glasgow Central still at St Davids.
1Z50 1409 Newton Abbot to Plymouth still at platform (tho' it is not scheduled to depart as yet).

#Torbay Unfortunately we’ve had to cancel the 13:02, 2 service between Newton Abbot & Exeter Bus Station, due to severe delays on route.

The next bus from Newton Abbot will be the 13:32. This is unfortunately delayed by 20 minutes, due to congestion.

229  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Devon / Re: "Devon Metro" on: September 13, 2023, 09:10:50
Think I'm seeing at least 3.
Believe there were 4 short forms first thing, but now down to three possibly.
Also short form on the Penzance - Cardiff.
Also on the Portsmouth - Cardiff.
Also on the Gunnislake branch.

Falmouth branch loses one run 1300 - 1400 with staff shortages.
230  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Devon and Cornwall resignalling on: September 10, 2023, 12:49:56
Cancellations to services at St Erth
Due to urgent repairs to the railway at St Erth the line is closed.
Train services running through this station may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes. Disruption is expected until 14:15 10/09.
Customer Advice
The Main Line in Cornwall is closed today for routine engineering works. Replacement road transport is operating, however it has not been possible to cover all of the advertised service, and coaches have been leaving Penzance full, meaning St. Erth has received very little service. We are urgently trying to source additional resources, however this is taking time. Limited road transport has been confirmed, however this is unlikely to arrive at St. Erth until 13:30 at the earliest.
Further Information
An update will follow within the next 2 hours.

Thank you for those updates.
Appreciated.

Cancellations to services between Didcot Parkway and Reading
Following a fire next to the track between Didcot Parkway and Reading all lines have now reopened.
Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 17:00 09/09.
Customer Advice
We are sorry for the delay to your journey.

Unfortunately due to a lineside fire we had to block some lines between Didcot Parkway and Reading. Also, overhead wires had to be switched off for safety reasons.

Ticket acceptance is in place with other operators which is detailed below.

We appreciate that this will have disrupted your travel plans, especially those on Advance purchase tickets, please note that you will be able to use your ticket on a later train today.

If you require any further assistance or information please speak to a member of Train Crew or Station Staff. Alternatively please use station help points where provided.

More information will follow as we have it.

Reducing the above for this information (which has nothing to do with Didcot/Reading) gives me

So.
Withdrawn and are conveying until further notice.

How to confuse the passengers...........

A good dozen or so stacked up either side of this.
Some delays and cancellations pending today (and nothing to do with the bruvvers and b-b-q weather)!

Having cleared cookies, et all, the results haven't changed.
However, I can still type in GWR (Great Western Railway) and enter their site from there.
Not a problem really for me.

Someone's going suggest it could all be done from Bengaluru or Jaipur
As was National Rail enquiries a while ago - is it still sent overseas?

Cancellations to services between Slough and London Paddington
Due to damage to the overhead electric wires between Slough and London Paddington some lines are blocked.
Train services running to and from these stations will be cancelled, delayed or terminated at and started back from Reading. Disruption is expected until 10:00 07/09.

Following an incident last night that caused damage to two electric trains in the Acton area just West of London Paddington, we have a block to electric traction (BTET (Banned to Electric Traction (when the overhead or third rail is turned off but diesels can still run) )) in place on the fast line through the Acton area going towards London Paddington. This means we've only three out of the four lines available between Hayes and Harlington and London Paddington.
239  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Devon and Cornwall resignalling on: September 06, 2023, 06:15:28

I have heard it said that Exeter may become an ROC (Rail Operating Centre - a centralised location for railway signalling and train control operations for a specific route or region) and eventually end up controlling everything southwest of the Bristol PSB (Power Signal Box) boundary at Bridgwater: apparently TVSC» (Thames Valley Signalling Centre - about) isn't big enough and Plymouth wouldn't be big enough to house an ROC of the size needed to control all west either.

Dave
Sort of a shame.
Would have preferred a Plymouth mini ROC, but at least Exeter is still in Devon
240  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Devon and Cornwall resignalling on: September 05, 2023, 08:54:44

Meanwhile I have also seen it mentioned on another forum that the eastern section of Plymouth PSB (Power Signal Box) - Totnes (excl.) to Hemerdon - is due to be resignalled in 2024 and that will be controlled from a new workstation to be housed at Plymouth PSB rather than from the Plymouth panel: among the alterations in connection with the Totnes - Hemerdon work will be the abolition of the loop on the Up Main at Hemerdon. The closest I get to signalling nowadays is playing a certain computer game.

Dave
Am I reading this correctly!
Cornwall (well, parts) will be worked from Exeter, whilst Plymouth to Totnes will be worked from Plymouth.
Surely more effective for Cornwall to be worked from Plymouth, unless, of course, the future plan is for Exeter to control all West.
