First 9 car failure of today?
1A71 05:55 Plymouth to London Paddington due 09:01
05:55 Plymouth to London Paddington due 09:01 was terminated at Exeter St Davids.
It will no longer call at Taunton, Newbury, Reading and London Paddington.
This is due to a fault on this train.
Now running as 5A71 to Stoke Gifford

My query is that the guessing drivers were changed as the originating Plymouth driver was route signed to ? Taunton or Reading, but would they know the route to Stoke Gifford, or a change of driver at Exeter to someone signed for Stoke who just happened to be 'spare' at Exeter?
Would the train manager(s) and catering staff be turfed out at Exeter to become 'spare'?
317  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Cornish Branch Lines on: June 17, 2023, 17:41:33
Delays to services between Falmouth Docks and Truro
Following overcrowding because of an event between Falmouth Docks and Truro the line is now open.
Train services running to and from these stations may be delayed by up to 15 minutes. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Customer Advice
Sea Shanty Festival is taking place in Falmouth this weekend and train services have been very busy. We have increased the number of trains running this evening, however please allow extra time to make your journey. Local bus ticket acceptance is in place on First Kernow Route U1/U1A.

Roads just as busy as people leave Falmouth.
Stop/go crawling.
Don't see how GWR (Great Western Railway) can increase the 'number of trains running'. Thought only two units permissible.
Maybe they've increased two car units to three or four coaches, but would Penryn loop be able to cope with longer units?
318  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Shortage of train crews on Great Western Railway since September 2017 - ongoing discussion on: June 17, 2023, 11:09:14
Summer Saturday, people planning a trip into Cornwall, but......

Cancellations to services between Plymouth and Gunnislake

Due to a shortage of train crew between Plymouth and Gunnislake fewer trains are able to run on the line.
Train services running to and from these stations have been cancelled. Disruption is expected until 10:24 17/06.
But in reverse -
07:10 Penzance to London Paddington due 12:29
07:10 Penzance to London Paddington due 12:29 will be started from Plymouth.
It will no longer call at Penzance, St Erth, Hayle, Camborne, Redruth, Truro, St Austell, Par, Bodmin Parkway, Liskeard, St Germans and Saltash.
This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time.
And
12:18 Penzance to London Paddington due 17:29
12:18 Penzance to London Paddington due 17:29 will be terminated at Exeter St Davids.
It will no longer call at Tiverton Parkway, Taunton, Reading and London Paddington.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.
And
14:20 Penzance to London Paddington due 19:29
14:20 Penzance to London Paddington due 19:29 will be terminated at Plymouth.
It will no longer call at Totnes, Newton Abbot, Exeter St Davids, Tiverton Parkway, Taunton, Reading and London Paddington.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

I think what GBM means is "could notifications of new replies be auto-enabled please?"

As you can see, I can reply....they don't need auto-enabling.

And, if I'm right, can I second this please?
Yes, apologies. Notify needs to be enabled when starting new topics.

Waaay off topic - grahame, when someone starts a new topic, would it be possible to auto enable replies?
New posts need to be enabled.

324  Journey by Journey / Wales local journeys / Re: cardiff bus hits underside of bridge on: June 13, 2023, 15:40:56
Um yes. I see the dilemma.
If it died when in service, passengers will be transferred to another service vehicle.
The dead vehicle will then be towed somewhere - with no one on board.
A rephrase to read "No passengers permitted on an out of service vehicle when under tow".

I believe that legally no passengers are permitted on any out of service vehicle.

Passengers forbidden on any towed vehicle

I don't know where #2 is but it does remind me of a famous feminist slogan popularised (but not originally coined) by Gloria Steinem.

Really surprised that one (No. 2) wasn't identified straight away!

Had to Google the quote, as I didn't know it offhand (other search engines are available).
If the station is THAT obvious, it must be Taunton, prior to all the platforms, etc!  Cry

Someone may have emailed the Reach titles in the south west suggesting this story...  Lips sealed

The BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) are yet to reply to me...

With 2M05 sat at Chippenham awaiting its return to Westbury, 1A10 (Weston to London) took wrong line working from Thingley to Wootton Junction

Great to see customers being provided with consistent information!  Roll Eyes
Not in the right topic area, but on the subject of consistent information (ish).
A random example.
15:30 London Paddington to Taunton due 18:03
15:30 London Paddington to Taunton due 18:03 will be reinstated.
It will be terminated at Bristol Temple Meads.
It will no longer call at Nailsea & Backwell, Yatton, Worle, Weston-Super-Mare, Highbridge & Burnham, Bridgwater and Taunton.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

So.
It's now reinstated but not to Taunton. Reinstated from London to Bristol only.
I want to travel to Taunton, but I need to read the additional information because it is NOT reinstated for me.

Misleading information.
