grahame said they were easy. I knew one of them had to be MKM^» (Melksham (Station code) - next trains), and I'm kicking myself for not spotting Swindon. But I got bogged down with the first one trying to find D/EMU^▸ (Electric Multiple Unit)'s with 1/3 2/3 double plug doors. I ended up (via Google) looking at Iarnr^d ^ireann rolling stock....

....most annoying. I was in Cambridge the week before Christmas and took photos of the various bits of new infrastructure.

... and I suspect that the first one may provide slightly more of a puzzle than the rest.

All correct - bonus mark, as suggested by BNM, to Chris.  All pictures taken last month or this, Cambridge on Sunday evening where the station at long last has more than one through platform.

Interesting design issues at Cambridge.   

1. I got into the very rear of a train an Kings Cross - right by the barrier, then had to walk all the way forward (8 cars) at Cambridge to get off the new platform as the footbridge is forward, then back (around 4 or 5 car lengths) to the station exit.  Why haven't they put the footbridge at the same point on the platform as the exit?

2. The new footbridge has a lift, but a tiny one.  8 car train from London, busy, lots of luggage ... and there's a LONG queue of people waiting for the lift to get off the platform and out of the station.

Oh dear ... took so long to get out of the station that the next train from KX was pulling in as I got to the exit gate!

When were you in Cambridge grahame? Checking my diary it turns out I weren't there the week before Xmas. It was actually 30th November. Curse my short term memory problems! It was Sevenoaks the week before Xmas. Both jollies courtesy of FCC^▸ (First Capital Connect)'s free tickets.

Still lots of work going on at that time I was in Cambridge and the scissor crossing was still in use on the one through platform.

Did take a ride on the guided busway though. I'll dig up the photos presently (they're on one of my five SD cards - hopefully not on the two I left at Mother's over Christmas!) and post in the relevant thread.

Why haven't they put the footbridge at the same point on the platform as the exit?

Educated guess?   The existing station building and canopy is probably listed.  Perhaps the answer if there are major holdups would be an additional footbridge at the other end of the island which lands roughly at the end of the other bay platform.
