On Wednesday, I'll need to visit the following places, in this order: Twickenham, Hounslow, Hammersmith and Hounslow.  I'll be travelling from Bedhampton.  Then a return from Clapham Junction to Bedhampton on Friday evening.

So the obvious thing seemed to be a Bedhampton to Hounslow SVR at a very reasonable ^20.80 (routed Not Via London) and Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) up to Hammersmith and back.

However, it then became apparent that this SVR is only valid by maps PD+TW.  I then discovered this is not valid via. Twickenham.  Does anyone know any reasoning for this, considering that Hounslow and Twickenham are both on a loop and the fares are the same to both stations?

Looking further into this, the routeing guide also seems to prohibit travelling on Southern services up to Clapham Junction, resulting in a more limited choice of services.  Again, does anyone know the reason why?

Finally, am I just being incompetent in using the Routeing Guide and these routes are really valid?

Don't know whther it's possible but could you get a Bedhampton Boundary Zone 6 SVR if one exists and use your Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) from the boundary station. You might have to get out and touch in your Oyster card.

I don't have a Travelcard on my Oyster, so that won't be possible.

Think I'll just buy a Bedhampton to Twickenham SVR, then use Oyster PAYG (Pay as you go) for the other journeys.

not checked the prices so this may not work out .... but presuming your going via salisbury bedhampton- boundary zone 6 (surbiton if booking online or tvm)+day travel card on the way out oyster way back ........ like i said may not be cheaper i havn't checked but this would avoid the tap in tap out problem on the way in

You can't combine PAYG (Pay as you go) Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) with a Boundary Zone ticket, Boundary Zone tickets have to be accompanied by a Travelcard, which could be Travelcard season loaded on Oyster but not PAYG. To use PAYG from the boundary station, which would be Surbiton, you'd have to buy a ticket to Surbiton and then board a train which calls at Surbiton.

I have to change trains at Clapham Junction anyway, so I could touch in there.

What I've decided to do is SVR from Bedhampton to Twickenham.  Then Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) PAYG (Pay as you go) to Hounslow, then Oyster PAYG for the rest of the day.

Still confused at the lack of routeing choices on the SVR.
