This is where SWT▸ think Bristol's attractions are. http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/Bristol-guide.aspxSee their map. Try entering the Colston Hall there and it's a long way to fall! I haven't checked the others but this all came from a promotion email from them. http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/uploads/advancedfares2012.pdfI tried to see what the details were from Axminster to London. After a fruitless effort I gave up. Clearly Lunchtime O' Booze has been fired from the Dailygetitwrong and has wangled a job with SWT. I *think* the offers are for pax from London but I got it as though it was aimed at people like me.  See if any of you can find this ^14 fare (^22 1st class) to book (please have a go) because I couldn't. |

Are you talking about the fares from Axminster?
If so I've found numerous dates and times when the headline ^13 Standard and ^22 1st Class fares are available from Axminster. Some as soon as 14th February.
Availability isn't as good in the other direction, to Axminster from Waterloo, but the headline fares are there if you book far enough ahead.

Me too. I found the ^13 Axminster to Waterloo on my first go (I picked 20/03/13). Same for the ^22 1st class one.

Having lived in Bristol for a few years, the description 'one of the warmest and sunniest cities in the UK▸ ' does not come to mind. Certainly it's comparatively mild in winter, but given the amount of grey cloud coming off the Bristol Channel to dump its load, sunniest does not come to mind.
I'm equally puzzled as to why the Clifton Suspension Bridge has been moved into the centre. Bit of a folly really.

Thanks all. I'll have another go.  I picked a date well in the future and just got fares at about 6 times that. I could not even click Axminster on their fancy coloured page and chose Exeter which I could click. I chose London, which I could click. All just gave me the normal booking page with normal prices. I just don't get it. Ah well.  |

I've persevered and found them at ^13 (I meant ^13 before, sorry). But for a day return (the advert was 'take your wife out for a day in London for Valentines day') you had to set off in the afternoon, such that you would have 5 minutes in London as only the 2120 back was offered at that price (at least I found it). Plus I read it originally in the email as ^13 there and back!!! I still do not manage to click Axminster on their pretty map. The larger blobs (eg Exeter or Bristol) could be clicked. They still take you to the innocuous booking page. I had expected a straightforward 'here you are then' package page. Sharp practice in my view. |

Quite familiar with that sort of thing ... and additionally with a lack of alternatives (previous service offered - 17:45, next service 17:45 next day). But not offered lowest price even with a long overnight weight ... |

We should see these issues through the eyes of an average punter not railway enthusiast. Hopefully someone in SWT picks up on this correspondence. |
