Green fingers wanted for Totnes community planting
The community planting team pictured with their RHS Its Your Neighbourhood Award in 2013Green enthusiasts are invited to join a community planting day at Totnes train station on Saturday, June 7.
The Network of Wellbeing (NOW), Transition Town Totnes, Totnes Gardens, Totnes Rail Users Group and First Great Western, who manage Totnes Station, are hosting the event from 9.30am-3,30pm.
Gardeners are asked to bring food to share for a picnic and tools if they have them.
The event is inspired by the success of the first two Incredible Edible station beds - on platform 1 and the staff car park - and also by Totnes^ entry for an RHS Gold Pennant Award.
Research shows that coming together to garden, and particularly to grow and share food improves personal and community wellbeing.
NOW^s Project Co-ordinator, Dr. Larch Maxey, said: "The feedback from the station beds and last year^s RHS award has been overwhelming.
"People love looking at the interesting plants and attractive flowers and picking their lunch while they wait for a train so come and help us take it to the next level, turn the station into a beautiful, abundant oasis.^
