What service has the oldest railway stock and apart from hs1 which has the newest trying to work it out

Oldest is the Isle of Wight.
Southern has the most recent delivery of new stock but it could be used on any of the services. On London Underground, Hammersmith & City is currently receiving new stock. London Overground is probably the service with the newest stock overall, although I may be wrong.

FGW▸ HST▸ are getting quit long in the tooth the first sets were delivered in 1976 / 7

...and a few of the Mk3 carriages are older still. Dating back to the prototype HST▸ set, built in 1972.
Two are with FGW▸ ; 42353 and 42356. Three are with East Coast; 41170, 42355, 42357. Two are in the Royal Train set and two are in Network Rail's New Measurement Train.
A tenth Mk3 from the original prototype build, a Trailer Kitchen, was scrapped in 1993.

You mean the one they've just scrapped - or at least sent to be spares to try to keep the Chiltern Trains one going? |

You mean the one they've just scrapped - or at least sent to be spares to try to keep the Chiltern Trains one going? Didnt know it had been scrapped! It had been out of service most of the time for a while now but it was finally withdrawn a month or so ago. Chiltern still have 2 121s for peak time Aylesbury-Princes Risborough services though. |

Yes with one previous careful owner  the current units replaced 1927 units from the same previous careful owner |

I do wonder when the 1938 Stock will eventually be replaced with something newer? I'm guessing the 1972 Stock (currently on the Bakerloo Line) is up for replacement soon, so a few units could make their way across the Solent.

Surely some of the sub-surface stock, if a little older would be more appropriate size, deep tube line stock looks so small on a conventional railway. |

I am not sure whether they would fit through Ryde Tunnel, which is the reason why London Underground stock is used. |

SWT▸ stated in a web chat a few years ago that they expect that '73 (Piccadilly) stock will replace the 38 stock when it becomes available.
As said, modifications to Ryde tunnel rule out anything other than tube sized stock.
