FGW Accused Of Ignoring Its Disabled Passengers

A Former Bristol councillor and wheelchair user has accused First Great Western of ignoring disabled passengers.Kelvin Blake, a former Labour councillor for Filwood, believes disabled passengers were forgotten during a ^150 million upgrade of First's high-speed trains (link below.)

He says the train operator made luggage racks in first class carriages too large for standard wheelchairs to squeeze past.

Some designated disabled carriages have been left off trains altogether during the upgrade, said Mr Blake.

FGW^▸ have apologised and put their side of the story in the article.

But this isn't a 'new' story - FGW^▸ were being challenged on this, back in May of this year - see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cornwall/6702869.stm Angry

William Huskisson MP^▸ was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830. Many more have died in the same way since then. Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.
