Class 458 door speed-up?

Our 458s have always had a very long delay from stop to doors enable - I've never timed it, but it must be 5s or so. I've never seen any reason for that, and other trains are a lot quicker.

The one I was on tonight caught me out by enabling the doors after well under a second. Has someone been giving them a stern talking to?

A number of changes were made during the ongoing refurbishments.  Sadly, I haven't seen a full technical list of what changes are being made.  Not sure if anyone has seen such a list...?

The major ongoing change being to shoe-horn in an extra carriage to make each 458/0 into a 5 car 458/5.

Extra carriages coming from cannibalising the redundant ex Gatwick Express Class 460s.

The only change to door control that I'm aware of is the fitting of Automatic Selective Door Opening during the reconfiguration to 5 car. This is because there are a couple of locations where 2x 458/5s will be too long for platforms and said platforms can't be lengthened in these locations.

There was a change to the door opening procedure on the Reading to Waterloo line a few years back whereby the guard opened the local door and checked the whole train was platformed before releasing the doors. Has this changed again?

Does the driver now open the doors, as is the case on most of Southern's EMUs^▸ (Electric Multiple Unit)?

Guard has full control of doors on SWT^▸ (South West Trains).

No. The requirement is for guards to ensure that the whole train is platformed before releasing doors. It doesn't always mean having to open the local door first and then releasing all doors. How quickly the doors are released varies from guard to guard, some are slower, some are quicker.
