In the IT business, I'm used to teaching mostly-male groups.  1 lady and 10 gents the week before last, five delegates this week and all are men.

In the hospitality business, we're in a mostly-female business, and indeed our own team is 4:0 full time, or 6:2 including part timers on the hotel side.

Our forum - looking at the stats of those who have declared themselves - is predominantly male

The train I'm on at the moment [or was when I wrote this] (London Midland stopper to Liverpool) is around 55 / 45 - men outnumbered just a little.  The figure's a bit of a guess, but reflects a typical weekend / leisure / offpeak metric.  I need to do a double count on peak trains to see if it's different.   We did have an almost all male train up to Swindon one Saturday when Town were playing at home ...

Im my youth, railway staff always seemed to be men, but times change.  Lady Conductors on all three trains I travelled on today. Has bias truly gone from the railways? Was my journey a co-incidence?  Has it swung the other way? Should I even be asking?

I posted elsewhere re where I work in IT being predominantly men.. I'd say at the moment 80/20 men to women... It's always been that way... My journey into work on the train is usually about the same. Maybe 70/30 men to women..

Childcare is 99/1 women to men, and that's an improvement on what it has been in the past. I'm not entirely convinced that's sending out the right signals to the toddlers of today and the youth of tomorrow. I'd much, much rather see a balance of genders involved in early years settings.

My primary school only had one male member of staff employed whilst I was there. And his job; the caretaker.
