Quote
08:00 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads due 09:47

This train will be delayed between Reading and Swindon and is expected to be 64 minutes late.
This train will be diverted between Reading and Swindon.
This train will no longer call at Didcot Parkway.
This is due to over-running engineering works.

I assume it is running via the Berks & Hants to Westbury, up through Melksham, past Chippenham and then into Swindon before reversing to take the already planned diversion via Chipping Sodbury because of work around Bath.

Seems the 07:40 from Bristol Temple Meads did the same thing in reverse.

(Still prefer that to a bus replacement)

That's quite some diversion.  I was going to have a whinge about the 1300 London Paddington - Bristol Temple Meads on Friday.  We had to divert to Reading West, then driver changed ends, and we carried onto Bristol in reverse formation due to a signalling issue on the line presumably near where the new overpass is being built.  Only 45 mins late getting to Bristol.....

Have done this diversion but PRE-PLANNED all day. due Engineering work on a Saturday in 2010.
Engineering work between Swindon and Didcot.      Trains were going Swansea, Bristol Parkway, Swindon, Melksham & Berks&Hants and vice versa as these instances today.
