First are currently pushing this ticket on the front page of the FGW^▸ (First Great Western) website. Quote :

Firstbus Railcard for the Bristol area has been replaced by the Freedom Travelpass

The Freedom Travelpass gives you unlimited travel on all train and most bus services in Bristol, Bath, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire. It is available in daily (peak and off-peak), weekly and monthly variants.

The ticket is available for three zones; A, A & B or A, B & C (see matrix below). You can buy tickets from station booking offices, train managers/conductors and bus drivers.

I just wish the outer region one extended to Taunton and Westbury!

Here's how I would lay it out if those stations were to be added



Notes:
Slight price increase for zone 3 as to cover further destinations
Additional zone 4: covering further fairly local journeys to/from Bristol, +^2
Stations in light blue/dotted lines are potential stations/lines
Unbolded dark blue stations are request stops

Edit: I just realised the zones are by letters, not numbers, so treat zone 1 as 'A', 2 as 'B', etc.

Damn right! It's all really overpriced though. If this was Germany it would probably cost around 49 euros.

I might change Dilton Marsh to zone 3 considering its close proximity to Westbury, Also 'Wootton' only has one O! but yeah a wider ranging zonal system would be good. I've been to Cardiff where they have an unlimited travelcard using a London-style zonal system. Their outer zone reaches as far as Maesteg, and it works really well. My friend and I had a great time travelling around the area using those tickets.

I might change Dilton Marsh to zone 3 considering its close proximity to Westbury, Also 'Wootton' only has one O! but yeah a wider ranging zonal system would be good. That's partly due to the fact it counts as part of the valley lines network!

But yes, the zonal system is awesome
