From yesterday's Express:

Quote
One is not impressed: Queen's regular haunt Ascot hilariously misspelt on road sign

A ROAD sign directing drivers to Ascot has caused a stir - by misspelling the name of the famous town.

The Queen, a regular visitor to Ascot, is unlikely to be impressed by this spelling blunder
The sign spelt the Berkshire town, famed for its racecourse, as 'Ascott' - which is a hamlet in Buckinghamshire.

The Queen - a regular visitor to the racecourse - is unlikely to be impressed.

Her horse, Estimate, won the 2013 Gold Cup at Ascot - her 22nd win.

A misspelt road sign near Windsor

Twitter user Andrew Ford spotted the blunder in Windsor.

A spokesperson for the Royal Borough blamed a contractor for the error, which has not yet been permanently fixed - although the extra letter has been covered with wipe tape.

She said: "We will be working with the contractor to make sure our Ascot is not confused with Ascott in Buckinghamshire again in the future."

In this case, it may be right spelling, wrong town, of course.

Full marks to the Express for gratuitously shoehorning the Queen into a completely irrelevant story. I'm slightly disappointed that they didn't manage to find a Diana, freak weather, or asylum seeker angle though.
