A bus driver involved in an angry one-hour stand-off over right of way on a road told a motorist: "You're going to lose your... life in a second."

The bus came head to head with a Volkswagen Lupo in Bath, with both refusing to reverse until police were called to defuse the situation.

A Facebook video shows a number of passengers on the bus during the row.

First Bus said it took the incident "very seriously" and an "internal investigation continues".
'You can't drive'

In the video, the motorist walks up to the bus and is heard saying: "It's my right of way bruv."

The bus driver then opens the door and says "representing First"... "I suggest you move" and "you can't drive".

He is then heard repeatedly swearing at the motorist during the confrontation before making several threats.

As the motorist walks away he shouts "it's my right of way" as a woman shouts "no it's not".

A second piece of footage filmed at the scene showed the bus driver pulling out a copy of the Metro newspaper and reading it in his cab while refusing to move the bus.

A First Bus spokesman said the company had a policy of not reversing vehicles but it does not accept the "behaviour which has been reported".

He added: "We offer our apologies to all those affected by [Thursday's] events.

"I can confirm that we are dealing with this matter swiftly and appropriately."

Avon and Somerset Police said it was called to on Coronation Avenue at 13:00 BST and traffic was moving an hour later.

That's one way to hand in your notice as a bus driver, I suppose.

The "exclusive" interview was so exclusive the daily mail also have the interview,

From all the evidence presented the bus driver failed to give way at a give way marking at the road, and then became agressive. If this is representative of his attitude the P45 is the best route for him.
