Banbury's up over 7%

Overall growth across GWR (Great Western Railway) managed stations - 4.42% ... other key stations they serve (NR» (Network Rail - home page) managed):
Paddington up 1.8%
Temple Meads up 6.1%
Reading up 4.3%
Overall growth across UK (United Kingdom) - 4.48% ... if that continues, there will be 155 passengers for every 100 today in 10 years, and 240 for every 100 today in 20 years.

Some interesting numbers.  Particularly in passenger densities with little old Windsor and Eton Central with its 1,885,272 passengers spread over its single usable platform of 113m (Western SE) makes for a density of 16,684 passengers per platform metre (pppm).  Compare that to 12,990pppm for Bath Spa and 10,114pppm for Oxford.  When one realises that actual platform length used with the service of 3 car turbos (max.) is more likely 70m, that makes an actual density of 26,932pppm.

Some interesting (!) things that spring out to me.

On interchanges there are considered to be over twice as many at Didcot compared with Oxford (491,568 v 225,903).

Nearly a 17% increase at Radley, which the authors can't come up with a reason for. Contrasts with a 13% decline at Appleford, but these numbers are so small really as to be questionable as to significance.

Passengers per platform metre. What a wonderfully specific measure! I've never been to Windsor (well, not by train ^ nor by car, come to that) but the platform at Bath often seems very crowded. Of course, it depends on how those numbers are spread by time as well. Perhaps the measure should be something like peak passengers per platform metre-minute?

No more than idle curiosity on my part as I spotted a clear outlier, but does anyone know what is going on at Islip to have caused such a huge change from 13/14 to 14/15?

Er, yes. I was puzzled why the producers of the document couldn't have worked it out.

The existence of Radley is also now better known in Abingdon and South Oxford saving a congested journey into Oxford or Didcot.

The effect of bustitution ...

Quote
The station closed to rail traffic on 15 February 2014 (the last trains having run late on 14 February) in order to allow upgrade of the line between Oxford and Bicester. Reopening was planned for May 2015.[3][4] It was later delayed until 26 October 2015.

Looking at the outriders / special cases, I notice Manea and Bladon which I can understand (improved service), Energlyn (only open for a bit of the previous year), and a couple of stations where ticket assignment within a group of stations was changed.   Then there's

       25464           6838    3.724   PEB   Pevensey Bay
which the ORR» (Office of Rail and Road formerly Office of Rail Regulation - about) have highlighted without, it seems, any certainty of reason.   Does snyone have any local knowledge - "Tourist Flow" suggested ... surely not because it's a famous film set ... "The station was the setting for an episode of The Goon Show called 'The Pevensey Bay Disaster'"

The number of services were essentially the same over those two years to/from Radley, but the opening of the car park extension and the guarantee of a parking space has definitely encouraged more users - despite a charge being introduced.
