We are wanting to get to Old Windsor during the day, we could drive but theirs limited parking at our friends.

So I looked up the 75 from Taplow to Slough and the 71 from Slough to Old Windsor. Both part of the 7 series doing Slough and surrounds  to LHR, which I beleive are subsidised by BAA.

Guess what? The 71 leaves Slough (start point) 3 minutes before the 75 arrives.

Might do train from Taplow which gives a comfortable 10 minute connection.

How frequent are they?   I had a similar journey yesterday ... (lack of) connection at Devizes by 5 minutes between two service that run once an hour.  Galling thing is that it used to be a through route ...

They are about every 40 minutes IIRC (if I recall/remember/read correctly) so it could be worse.  Could you not get a train from Taplow?

Both 71 and 75 every 30 minutes during day, so not too bad but would you want to wait 22 minutes at Slough Bus Station even in daylight?

The 71 goes from Heathrow to Slough via Egham and Old Windsor so you could take Reading Waterloo train to Egham and pick it up there and its 15 minutes to Old Windsor.

If you're in Taplow get a cab, ^12-ish, far quicker and a lot less faffing around.
