GWR (Great Western Railway) have had a (temporary) change in their Groupsave ticket policy.
Whereas Groupsaves used to be barred on specific days due to major events such as football, horse races, festivals etc; now, with the exception of the afternoon/evening peak Friday Paddington - Penzance services, Groupsave is available on all off peak services.

Is there a source or link to this change?

Not that has been specifically made public, but GWR (Great Western Railway) staff haven't been issued barred lists for the past few months, all barred lists have been removed from the National Rail website, and the situation was clarified in last week's retail circular.

Forgot to say that the Night Riviera is also still excluded.

I unfortunately cannot enlighten you as to the reasons behind it but we are currently creating a poster promoting groupsave and I can confirm that apart from the usual Friday PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains)-PNZ and the sleeper, there are no further barred dates.

Don't see why. SWT allow GroupSave. Booking engines allow you to book GroupSave on SWT services between Bristol TM(resolve) and Trowbridge.

Ah - my error - thought I had seen that the only long distance company with Groupsave was GWR (Great Western Railway) .... good job I had sufficient doubt to ask.   Thanks!
